Trouble owning no-date Rolex watches?

I have only bought one watch BECAUSE of the date and that was because the date is part of the AC complication. Likewise, I bought the no date sub specifically because it doesn't have a date.

When I have a no date on I do notice it until a look at the date which is not to hard to find these days then I'm good until the next day ... usually sometimes I need to look twice for it to stick :-)

I really do prefer to have the date if the model offers it. However I seem to have made an exception for the 114060 it just looks so nice. I like the cyclops too but that dial just mesmerizes me when I look at it. When I wear it and I need to know the date I do instinctively turn my wrist to check the date and it kinda does bum me out when it's not there, but I think for this watch it's worth it.

I always feel I need a date. I used to think it wasn't a big deal and then I got a datejust and actually use the date all of the time. Don't think I'll go back unless it's something really special (Daytona, 5513, etc).

I'd love to have a perpetual calendar so I could remember the weekday and month, too. And I obviously need to know the phase of the moon...

i can deal with the date on some watches, but combine it with the magnifier/cyclops ......... just too much

It depends what you want a watch for.
My Exp 39mm Mk1 is fine when I am dining out, in the gym or up in the hills.
I do not need to see a date.

a Tudor BBN... That said , it would only be in a collection in rotation
and not a daily ...

It is on most of my watches. But I don't need it.

On my GMTII: I like that it changes within seconds of midnight, as it is a technical feat. But setting the date after a spell in the safe takes time. It's because of the jumping hour which is my favourite feature, but it causes date setting delays. I like setting my watches, as I am a WIS. It's a joy. But I don't actually need it.

I don't like the cyclops. There I said it here! I've never liked it. It almost stopped me buying a Rolex. It is an ugly design.

Due to 3 decades of an erratic work schedule the day of the week has always been the elusive answer for me but more and more, I simply do not want any calendar complications.

I prefer a date. Why? I've looked at my left wrist for confirmation of the date all of my professional life, and I don't care to change. The ritual is pleasing to me.

I'm looking to purchase my first nondate rolex to serve as a weekend, casual watch. I also fish offshore a lot and don't want to unnecessarily expose my Sub C date to the constant banging around on the boat. I'm torn between a Sub, new style Explorer 1 and the new Air King. I'm leaning toward the Explorer 1. Any suggestions?

I would very much like to have a date function, and also a day function, given that I don't have a regular workweek (each day may be different in terms of location and activities). Hence a day-date would be perfect for me. However I have a no-date watch (Exp), because it is more affordable and I very much like the looks.

I am aware that there are many affordable day-date watches on the market. I still have a Citizen diver watch with day and date. However I think the layout of the day display on Rolex and Tudor watches is way better than having a day display at 3 o'clock next to the date window.

So I just settled with what I have and I am not complaining − but a day/date functionality would be really practical for me, and nicer than having to check on my computer or telephone.

I wear a ND Sub most of the time. My main other piece is an ExII, so I'm in the habit of looking for a date. I feel your pain.

I love the smooth crystal on the non-date watches. But, prefer the date versions more.
In a pinch, I'll use my iPhone for the date.

Whenever I need to write the date, there's always a computer screen in front of me, and it's always at the bottom right on there, so no date= no problem for me. Liberating, as the no-date watches are always better-looking than those with the date bubble, IMO.

Not having a date is more convenient for those with a large rotation of watches if not kept on a winder. One less thing to worry about, although quickset on the 3135 and 3155 are really fast. It's more of pita to reset a 3185/3186 if it hasn't been worn in a while though no where near as much trouble as resetting any annual calendar watch!

My computer tells me the date. My cell phone tells me the date. My car tells me the date. My television tells me the date. I think the only time when a watch would be the only date-revealing device handy is when I'm on the toilet. Thus far in life I've never needed that information during such interludes.

Interesting enough, there is a method to keep track of date with the bezel on the no date sub
