It's a great watch, I myself would like to get one but like you can't get past the fact that's it's MSRP is very close to a SS Daytona.

Like someone said, get it pre-owned, I can point you in the right direction if you need help, or any of the TRF sellers could help you.

It's the model that had me fall in love with Rolex!I started with a mid-size but traded that in for a 40mm model as I found the mid-size a bit too small for my liking.I love, love, love this watch! As others have said,it wears super comfortably, goes with everything and dresses up or down very nicely.

Mine ain't never leaving the stable!

So did you pull the trigger, Glimmer? Curious to find out what you decided to do. :)

I'm also thinking of getting a yachtmaster, trying to decide between the 35mm and the 40mm. I tried on both, and while the 35mm seemed kind of small, the 40mm felt huge on my wrist (I'm a short guy, 5' 7" with 6.5" wrists).

It is a great watch, comfortable, perfect weight, aggressive turned down lugs, and definitely a whole other level of refinement than the other sport models.

Now since you wore the Yachmaster in the evening, then you may be unaware of the best part. When the dial is in direct sunlight is seems to refract the light indifferent directions, it is a sparkle-glow. No other dial I know of plays with direct sunlight like the YM.
Clarence,

Thanks for the inspiration. Yachtmaster incoming!

As much as I want to say get the bigger watch, I'd recommend getting whatever fits best. I just picked up the 40mm and it fits me perfect. I don't even notice it on my wrist - if it feels too big and clunky on you, then the 35mm might be the one for you.

On another note, have you considered a 36mm DateJust, or a SS Daytona? Although the Daytona is technically a 40mm watch, it wears/appears smaller than the YachtMaster - and it's a beautiful watch.

I hope any of my rambling helps!

Hi, I haven't pulled the trigger yet but have decided to go for it come March or April when the funds are just right. The 40mm also felt large on my wrist when I wore my friend's, it seemed to wear much larger than the other 40mm watches I own.

Hi, I already own a 36mm DJ and the Daytona is still kind of growing on me and/or I haven't really taken time to appreciate it (I'm kind of a Speedmaster guy) but who knows what the future will hold. Right now I'm kind of fixated on the YM...and won't rest till I get one!

Hey, for what its worth my response/advice was actually to another poster a few posts up (ctc1010) regarding himself feeling like the 40mm might be too big for him. I already posted great stuff about the YM to you earlier in this thread! :)

You might want to consider the YM-II, which I have in YG. It is truely an awesome timepiece, and it tends to be a lot more of an attention getter at parties, and the like, as opposed to the regular YM. The old style YM is very small in comparison, and it has the old movement. The new YM-II has the award winning highly accurate movement (still nowhere near as accuarate as my OQ, though!).

I owned a Deep Sea for several months, but flipped it for the YM-II YG, as it was so darn thick. Also, the YM-II goes equally well with jeans, as it does with a tuxedo, which the Deep Sea does not, IMHO.

Just my personal opinions, though, and like any Rolex, these are very personal and highly subjective viewpoints, so YMMV!

Did you try swapping the clasp from iic to YM? Just the clasp not the entire bracelet. If that works I am getting a YM. It will be best of both worlds

It is a Hirsch Leonardo. It will require some drilling, lots of swearing and a few scratches on the case, but in my opinion it is worth it.

I agree all the way. If I were in a position to get one, I certainly would have....Congrats Man! I think none of the Rolexes are worth the money really, and the YM is no different. I still love em though.

As an aside, how is Keith's book? Been meaning to pick it up.

Thanks! Keith's book "Life" is a great read! So different from the usual rock biographies, this one actually makes sense and reads like a good novel. Pick it up, you'll surely enjoy it!
