I went today and had the dial and hands changed. Here's the pic, I like this more as I can easily see the time. I also had a look and tried on the sub (pic enclosed), almost bought it but hurried home to think about it. It is an M serial, year 2008.

I had a two tone jubilee (it was pre-owned). I wanted a brand new never worn Rolex DJ, so I purchased this one knowing that I can change the dial at no extra charge. It was at a bargain price. Wore it for a few days but didn't like nor got used to the dial...so I changed it. I do like the style of this DJ (stainless steel vs gold and steel) because it is not flashy and could be worn daily anywhere and everywhere. The last thing I want to do is to appear as a show off especially at Church.
I do appreciate and love Rolex watches, I will own it for years and will pass it on to someone who feels the same (hence a new although old stock) or resell it probably at the same price or higher. I like the fact that is brand new so that I, being the original owner has more of a sentimental emotional attachment. My collection of watches are those that fly under the radar so-to-speak. I will add another Rolex to my collection, one which I can wear on specific occasions.

With the free face swap what does it matter? I think its a great watch at a great price, and looks great with the new face. Now its time for the OP to enjoy it!

Congratulations... your new dial looks fantastic! Remember, you are the one who has to look at it every day, so I totally support you in getting the dial you love. I completely understand you wanting to change something, and making it happen. I personally think the black dial rocks, and is a much better look. Enjoy!

So I changed the dial today (silver with roman numerals). Seems more of a classic style.

Its a brand new never worn old stock rolex with full warranty. If its the watch you wanted for 4400 then its hard to beat!

You make a really great point. Not all dials are as "readable" as others. I had a watch that I really had to focus on to see the time and it drove me nuts.

Watches don't do a lot of things. They don't pick up radio stations, they don't do the dishes, etc... they exist to tell YOU what time it is. If it isn't doing that for you well, I would do something different. Go back to the dealer and work something out, change the face, do something.

The attitude that it should work for you doesn't matter if it doesn't. Dials for you watches are not scarce if that is the direction you choose. That also isn't a huge job for a good watchmaker. With that said, with a watch as new as yours, I would first look to do something with the dealer if it were possible.

Thank you I did. I finally am pleased with the satin silver. It was nice looking over the watchmaker's shoulders whilst he was attending to my watch. I love looking at the movement etc.. He then pressure sealed the watch. I am happy with it now.
