If there was a retirement thread I missed it, anyway belated congratulations!! I'm sure it was long over due for you to enjoy some time off. I have 3 family members who are lawyers and they work 10 -12 hour days, sometimes longer. Can't imagine a DC lawyer's life is any different, probably worse!! Here's to you!

I probably have 30+ years ahead of me still so who knows what will be available.
Right now I would have to say a DD II or RG Daytona. |

I was forced to retire in November so I bought myself this 16758. Just got it back from RSCNY yesterday.

my very first sub = my very first rolex which I bought in 1998 ... all other Rolexes that came after, are expendable ... except for my very first sub...

I intended to retire in 2009 but the downturn in the economy was a concern so I bought this as a reward for working another year while I adjusted my assets.
A year later, when I retired, I rewarded myself with this one and I'm still happy with my choices. |

I retired about 8 years ago ....I bought a Pepsi GMT 2 so when I travel between Phoenix and Houston I don't have to set my watch every time.
In reading some of the post I guess that I got real lucky to retire at 49. When I was in my 30's I never bought new cars....took expensive vacations....or lived in an expensive house......although I flipped some pricey condo's in North Scottsdale. The only "expensive" items I bought were 2nd hand Rolex's.....you have to draw the line somewhere on how much you can sacrifice. |

Retirement? Not with the way my wife spends...seriously, still a ways away for me. But would probably treat myself to something special.

The right watch depends what you do in your retirement I guess.
If you travel a lot then maybe a GMT. If you go out a lot in the evening then maybe something dressy like a TT DJ. If you spend a lot of time with friends and around town then maybe a Daytona. The one I wear most in my retirement is my 14060 (although I wouldn't mind an IWC Spitfire)

Probably a Day-Date. Not going to work every day I'll keep forgetting which day of the week it is!
