What is Your Retirement Watch?

Mine is The Omega De Ville Prestige Small Seconds, 39 mm red gold case that George Clooney wore in The Descendants. I got his looks, all I need is his watch,
unless Rolex Cellini will re-design the models and make it larger; into 39mm or 40mm, then I'd choose Rolex, of course!

All I'll need is my GMT.

I pulled the plug on work 3 months ago at age 70.5 and 44 years of law practice. My retirement watch and all time favorite is this one (Y series all black GMT-II model 16710):

I've got a good 30+ years left before retirement. I'll have to wait and see what my tastes in watches are like. I'm thinking a vintage (by that time) AP or Patek comp. Maybe something that I couldn't afford at the time but saved for that really long term grail.

20 years to go . . . if I make it that long . . .

But I'll get the watch in the meantime . . .

Perhaps 17-18 years left until retirement. I would love the white gold sub, but will probably be very happy with some amazing birth year watch.

George Clooney? He could wear a Hello Kitty watch and still look hot.

I retired from the NYC Police Dept 7 yrs ago at 46 but I still continue to work in Real Estate & security. I have another 6 yrs & then I'll pull the plug at 60 so I'll see what's available then & make a decision.

Congrats on the retirement to all of those who mentioned it above.

I'm 28, so retirement is a long way away. But if I were retiring today, DDII in rose gold.

I have another 13-16 years to go. I'll worry about it then. I must retire at 56, but I hope to go earlier.

something like this would be both sporty and cosy in retirement - not that fussy on the model...

The first high-end watch I bought after retirement, which was my first high-end watch, was my 114270, followed by my 116200 63600, and then my 14060M.

I've also bought a few lesser watches since then, too.

I really don't think of any as retirement watches, though.

You can't afford either of those models in retirement! I'd just buy another plain Rolex watch instead - then call it good!

If I were retiring right now, I would go with the Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Ultra Thin Perpetual Calendar 39mm.

But my 'retirement' watch is probably going to be a perpetual calendar (no specific brand).
