Yep, the government here in Canada (at all levels, but mostly at the federal and provincial levels, because that's where the money is) seem to think that the populace is dumb enough to accept that we're being bought off for elections with our own money. The sad thing is that they are generally right.

Which is why I vote every election that I am able to. No sense in complaining if I do not take part in the democratic process. Can't run for public office because of my job (and I think that I'd make a lousy politician, anyway), but the democratic right to vote is also a responsibility and I think that the western world tends to forget at times that with democracy comes responsibility.

Sorry, rant over. Oops.

James

Give 90% away to charities that help people and then take my wife out to dinner.

I would give it all to my financial advisor to invest. Then I would live off the interest. At a conservative 5% per annum, I could live quite comfortably. I could easily pay off the rest of my mortgages, trade up from my 2 BR condo in Florida to a 3 BR unit; sell my house and buy a 3 BR condo in the DC area; and do some more travelling.

Oh, I would continue to work for a few more years, since I still enjoy what I do.
