Another ding of mine: scratched a bezel on the corner of the overhead mounted CD changer in the boot of my car while getting a Coke out of a cooler. It's the little stuff that gets ya... :)

I lent my Sub to my girlfriend to wear when she was studying at uni.....always bashing it on desks.....then I noticed a chip on the crystal........if your that worried about 'A WATCH' she said I won't bother wearing it any more.......she kept it on.....and I married her!.....flipped that watch a few years later,she now has her own GMT,and only slightly more careful

I was installing a new tail light in a scion xb and when i went to go pull the light socket out some exposed piece of metal under there scratched my crystal pretty bad.

also after about the first week of wearing my rolex I stopped wearing short sleeve shirts because i didn't want my clasp to get scratched from my desk.

even though your watch is waterproof you'll take it off to wash your hands(secretly so you can watch the time go by as you wash your hands)

dogs are attracted to them(seriously, even if my girlfriends lab can't see it, he always attacks it)

and the thing you need to avoid most is TRF. as you WON'T stop buying watches... even if you can't afford it.

Walking down the street side by side with my fiancé , all of a sudden my DSSD taps her ring finger . I look down at my watch , and her diamond ring scratched my ceramic bezel. It was a tradgic day for me .

One rule that I always obey is not to wear my watch when I'm working on something. And another one to watch out for is trying to reach for things that fall down the side or under your car seat.

dunno if it sounds crazy, but i actually do quite the opposite of what most people would do. i simply let it get knocked around. i'm not naturally a clumsy person, so more oft than not it's quite safe on my wrist, but i make it a point to wear my sub every second that i can. my wrist feels unnatural without it on.

Yip, I don't even think about it other than when I'm on TRF.

My watch goes where I go and does what I do... The poor thing just has to try it's bes to keep up!

Reaching to turn my MacPro on and scratched the Daytona clasp on the chasis. Watch was only two weeks from purchase.

Had a very close call earlier today.

I showered this morning with my LV on (which I rarely do) and after I got out and dried myself off, I placed the towel on a chair and the watch on top of the towel, so the Sub could dry off. 20 minutes later after I had gotten dressed and gathered everything I needed for the day, I went to throw my towel in the hamper and had completely forgotten I had rested the watch on the towel. I looked on in horror as the LV, as if in slow motion, was airborne and landed 20 feet away, face down on a wooden floor. Upon close examination, the only damage was two tiny dents on the edge of the bezel that will buff out at service. Phew...

I feel so much better knowing others are like me. Hitting, banging and scratching watches. I still scratch changing bands sometimes even with tape.

Besides small dents that came out if nowhere, crystal scratches on my 1680 from hitting a door frame and lug scratches - no real damage yet....

Taking laundry out of the washing machine, rushing and trying not to have wet clothes fall on the floor while switching them over to the dryer....on the way out I caught my gmt on the inside of the washer opening And ripped the entire bezel off with the parts under falling into the inside of the washer. Thankfully I was able to collect all the pieces and my ad put everything back together. Seeing the gmt naked like that was sad.

This is an example of why I think that the safest place for your watch is your wrist.

Knock on wood! I know my Rolex has contacted a lot of surfaces, and there is patina on the bracelet and clasp...but...no major damage yet. It's due for a service (7 years old at Christmas), but I don't plan on getting it polished untl I decide to flip it.

The washing machine is a death trap... Been there, too.

Badly shanked a tee shot at the driving range. The ball hit the metal dividing rail between mine and the next stall. It richocheted right back at me and cracked directly off of my watch face in mid follow through. It happened in a split second. Smashed the crystal on the watch.

When I got my brand new Sub C I went out for a meal. On the way home it was chilly hence I kept putting my hands in my jacket pockets. Unfortunately being dark etc I did not notice the zipper on the pockets leaving teeth marks in my brand new Sub and I must have taken my hands in and out several times.

Woke up in morning and gutted to see my new watch scratched up.

None of my jackets have zip pockets anymore!!!!

I slightly chipped the edge of the crystal on my first ever Rolex (16710 GMT II) while I was removing the concrete render from the back wall of my house in Wimbledon with a jack-hammer. A piece of the render fell onto my arm. Doh!
