No. Most people have no idea what's on your wrist.

Ha, ha, ha. Nope, never. I had never thought of it.

The true fact is that NOBODY will notice you are wearing a Rolex. Or a Patek, or a Timex...

In most cities in the Philippines, yes it can dangerous to wear something shiny even if its a cheaper seiko dive watch or a gold plated or yellow shiny steel citizen dress watch. This usually happens when you are commuting in a public transport like bus, jeepneys, pedicabs, taxis, etc..

We call them "snatchers". They find a target. Subtly and slowly move in and then suddenly they just grab and "snatch" your watch or necklace, cellphone or even earrings (yeah your earlobes will hurt and bleed, saw an old pitiful lady had her earrings "snatched"), then they just scamper away and ran very fast. Before you could even fathom what had just happened and come to grips to reality, the crook is nowhere to be seen already. Gone with your precious valuable or Rolex.

I wish they could make it legal to shoot them on site during the commencement of the crime even if your aiming at their back. It's hard to chase after them in a crowded and chaotic zig-zag street alleys. They know the place, you don't.

Yes, I live in the Chicago land area and there are definitely areas of Chicago that I would not wear a Rolex. For example, two nights ago there were 3 killed and 17 injured in shootings across the city.

Too many references to guns and killings. This thread is now closed.
