X2. The Rolex plain case back isn't any prettier but there is nothing inside the watch worth displaying. Like putting a transient hood on a Toyota Camry.

Only this way, and perhaps Rolex will be a bit more artful with their movements.

Reminds me of what once a friend showed me as his "Tactical Daytona."

That thing was in matte black and screamed knockoff throughout. But as I turned the watch over, alas, there was the clear case back.

Yes it was a knockoff that he got from his trip to China. And that watch basically ruined it for me: now every time I think of clear case back on Rolex, I think of that "Tactical Daytona."

No. Movements just aren't as 'finished' or decked out...an e.g. of a gorgeous movement would be any of the Lange or PP pieces ...

I don't mind them if they come with the watch, but I wouldn't put one on a Rolex. It's just not my thing.

I voted no. I suppose if Rolex offered it that way it might be interesting, but aftermarket definitely not.

The idea doesn't much appeal to me anyway. I'm not big on exhibition dials either. I can appreciate them, don't get me wrong, but they're just not my style. It just seems difficult to tell the time with most of them. There's so much going on they're too busy.

While they're beautiful and all, to me Rolex is not an exhibition type watch. I wear them, not display them.
