Thanks! I'm always impressed with your Rolex knowledge that doesn't exist anywhere else on the internet. Trying to google "paille bezel" just comes up with this thread basically.

18249 with unusual bark bezel

Hallo guys,

I was offered a 18249 but it seems the bezel is coming from an older model. The seller is an old friend that said he bought it new from AD and never had done any modif to it (i could believe him considering his background)

I wonder if anyone can tell me if
1. The bezel is a genuine rolex
2. Mop dial is also a genuine rolex

Any comment is appreciated

Thanks before
Aps1808

My 18249 has the interrupted / crenellated bark bezel, with the flats at each hour, but I don’t know if both are correct.

You might have better luck posting your question as a new thread in the vintage section, but either way, I expect it would be hard to find another white bark DD bezel.

That’s an older bezel.

18249 should have a bezel like yours.

Looks like I may have overlooked at least one ladies' model. Here's a 69288:

Ah right, thanks. I was searching for the text and it didn't come up since it's an image obviously. For google's sake I'll mention the ladies' references 69279 and 69138 here too.

Just thought I'd include this little aftermarket 'creation'

Aftermarket but still attractive, in my eyes.

18079 (standard barked bezel. White gold model)
18108 (Barked bezel with 12 diamonds. Here's one with a rare dial)
18308 (Barked bezel with 12 diamonds. I'm unsure of the difference between 18308 and 18108)
18348 (Full diamond bezel)

DOUBLE-QUICKSET (debuted in late 1980's)
18248 (engine turned + barked bezel. Shown with wood dial)
18249 (engine turned + barked bezel. White gold model)

DATEJUSTS (Check out those barked jubilee bracelets!)

16078 (Shown with houndstooth dial)
16248
6927 (26mm ladies' model)
69278 (26mm ladies' model, shown with tiger-eye dial)
Ladies' Pearlmasters also exist in barked versions. Anybody know the model number of that one?

MISC.
5100 (This rare early Rolex quartz model was available barked)
1511 (The only 34mm barked Rolex)
1807 with Morellis Finish (This isn't actually barked, but sometimes people mistakenly call it that)
Prototype white gold Submariner Date (Bracelet is barked. The watch shown went for $600k+ at auction. There are only 3 prototypes like this according to Hodinkee)
Afaik the difference between a 18108 and 18308 is the movement. 18108 should be single quick set movement 3055 whereas 18308 runs with double quick set movement 3155. But don't know exactly when the change occured, should be end of 80'ish. So the 183xx DD imho would belong to the double quick set range but I might be wrong...

I believe this is all correct - My understanding is that all 181xx references are simply SQ 180xx models with gem-set bezels and/or lugs, and all 183xx models are DQ 182xx models with the gems. Presumably the 18308 replaced the 18108 in 1988, at the same time the other DQ DDs came out.

Very cool, that's a South Anerican made bracelet as you can tell by the D'A stamp. Def a real Rolex brick bracelet but I'm not 100% sure if the finish is factory

Happened across another one, this Date model with an apparently bark bezel (it’s also listed as a bark bracelet).

Listed as reference 6629, 30mm case, serial #1906449.
