I, too, have a 16610V with oval 'O', flat four, F Serial 02.... Purchased 23 December 2003 (bill of sale and open warranty date). I've never seen evidence that there exists a 'Y' Serial 16610V.

Purchased my first 16610LV in December 2003, Y946XXX serial. They do exist, but as rare as you can imagine being at the end of the Y serial production run.

They're all 50th anniversary model and that's from Rolex, unless anyone can point to any _official_ Rolex saying otherwise. They have different bezels, dials, MSRP, box sets as Rolex always do that. Basically some just made up thing which is the real anv just like the rumours from AD LOL.
Now if you're so much into the MK1 dial of the 50th anv watch, here's your chance to get the MK1 of SD43 now, get it before the dial is changed and price increase!!!! |

Genuine Kermit? How do I know? Serial #?
Hey Guys -
Looking to get my very first Rolex Sub - and am drawn to the Kermit. I love that it is out of production, and therefore only a finite amount are in existence. Also, the green color of course! I am looking to pull the trigger on one (D serial number). However, I have seen posts here that a person could have purchased a BLACK sub in the years 2003-2010, then swap the bezel for green (easy) AND then swap the dial for a black "maxi" dial. I never thought of the dial swap! If this occurred, then how could one tell if the original watch was, in fact, a Kermit? WOULDN'T THE SERIAL NUMBER TELL ALL? I have seen posts here that say you need to look at the original papers, calling out a 16610LV model number, not simply a 16610. I assume that during 2003-2010 Rolex produced essentially TWO models: - 16610LV (or 16610V) - GREEN, MAXI DIAL "Kermit" - 16610 - Black, Black, no maxi dial The watch I'm considering has no papers, no box. I'd rather save the $$ at this point as I intend to WEAR this thing daily. (That's why I appreciate the sapphire vs. plastic of older models....) Thanks for your insight.... |

IT IS POSSIBLE TO VERIFY - and here's how: The serial number on the case, needs to match the maxi dial layout (prints, markers, etc). Check references on the net, and you'll see. |

I have never seen any such reference chart. Please provide a website or link and I will be more than happy to.
