Don't forget one important thing. He may not want to wear a watch. I asked my 15 y/o recently if he wanted my white or black dial when he turns 21. He said neither, he's got his Iphone to tell time.

Congrats on the wee child. As for the watch, you have a very long time to track one down at something less than the cost of a university degree.

Makes sense and probably will be the direction, I go. I went to an Omega AD today, they had the new Speedmaster both in Hesilite or Sapphire and even included a discount. For my own amusement, I asked about a silver Snoopy, they took down my information but did not provide a time line saying that there were probably about 100 or so people on the list ahead of me

Congratulations!! Having a child in the NICU leads to very emotional ups and downs. Here is what you need to do. BUY YOURSELF A WATCH TO COMMEMORATE THIS MILESTONE. You love watches. You've earned it. Worry about his 18th B-day in 18 years. There is a good chance your son will not be into watches at that age anyways. And if he is, you can gift him this extra special piece at that time.
