You have the wrist for it so I wouldn’t trade. I think most people struggle to wear the 43 so they justify the 4K, but the proportions always looked odd to me. Yeah the cyclops isn’t true to the old models but it’s an evolution of what the SD always wanted to be (according to Rolex).

It’s looks good to me, I don’t see why you should consider a trade

Doesn't look too big at all. Nothing wrong with giving the SD4k a try if that's where your head is at. Could easily reverse it if it doesn't live up to what you expected.

I think your SD43 looks great on your wrist. I would keep it.

I get REAL excited about SD4k’s, especially that one.
There’s a lot of hype on youtube about the comparison between Sub vs SD4K.
No cyclops, fully graduated bezel, shortest ceramic production run, FOMO, etc.
I am guilty of indulging in the hyperbole.

My only concern is the thickness. I like thinner watches and have sold off fatter watches like planet oceans, for example. In my case, there’s only room for one black diver.

Can’t wait to see how you decide

From a purely visual perspective, the SD43 definitely fits your wrist. Maybe it's because of the extra weight, making it not very comfortable for her to carry. Unless it absolutely has to be a Sea Dweller, I could imagine the simple 41 Submariner for them. Might be a lot more comfortable to wear, with a pleasant presence.

SD4K is a real favourite of mine. I don’t own a SD43 so can’t comment on the difference. SD4K appears a truer evolution to me.

IMHO the SD43 looks absolutely perfect on you. The SD4K is the same thickness only in a smaller diameter so I never could find an optimal fit.

The larger SD43 wears better than the SD4K IMO.

The SD4K is a great watch. If I didn't have the DSSD JC, I would have gone with the SD4K. I'm not a big fan of the cyclops lens generally. The SD4k seems more like the natural evolution of the Sub.

No if it's a straight swap. I wouldn't do it, but then, different strokes and all that.

Losing a thousand dollars, though? Yeah, then you'd need to have your head examined.

15 mm is awfully bulky. Your watch looks perfect on you. You have a date, and that pop of red looks awesome. Keep it!

You're the only one that can answer that question. It looks good to me but I have a smaller wrist and my sub looks about the same as your SD43 does on you. If you have the means, Id get both. If not, pick whichever one speaks to you more on the wrist and enjoy!

Update:

Total curve ball - but I was struggling letting the SD43 go for an SD4K because even tho it would be smaller, the thickness is the same. I love the red text and matte dial on that watch.

I found a birth year 14060 that was serviced by RSC in 2018 (service card and box included) that came back with all original parts to include a ghost bezel for a very reasonable price.

Couldn’t be happier! Now all boxes are checked.

Wow, that's a beauty!

Good decision, congratulations!
