OP, some of the other posters do bring up a good point about not getting anything, hey, you gave her thousands of dollars, she is making a nice profit.

That being said, if you still feel inclined to do so, I think that these very expensive champagnes are over the top and not necessary. Call her on your way to pick the watch up on Monday, find out what color wine she likes, stop at the liquor store, have it gift wrapped and give it to her when you pick up the watch. You can also tell her that you will be happy to refer her to your Rolex friends on the forum. She should like that very much and keep you in mind for further purchases.

A couple hand written notes in the mail will be more impactful. One to the salesperson and one to the owner/manager. Very classy, old school, impressionable and costs very little. This will make a bigger impact than bribery.

OP, you are lucky indeed. I've talked to 5 different ADs in my State, and I've bought jewelry from one of them. So far nothing. Looking for a Hulk and Pepsi, so I know how this is probably going to go (or not).

One of the greatest marketing jobs in history. Nicely done, Rolex.
Bizarro world indeed — when the customers are so rabidly obsessed with the brand... they feel the need to thank the store and reward the salesperson (again) for just reselling a watch.

Right. This is a tough market. I say it’s better to be lucky then good. As you can see even some members don’t believe the story. I don’t blame them. I would have a hard time too. Crazy times and a crazy market. Right time right place. Hang in there it will happen for you too.

Um, rewarding the salesperson?

Excuse me, she could've blessed someone else with the chance to own a watch, and instead gave this guy a chance to give her his money for a watch.

If you look at it like a pure transaction your 100 percent correct. But what else can you buy and walk out and it’s worth 50 percent more then you just paid? The ball is 100 percent in the ADs court. We play when we can. Some do more to get to play first. We all know the game. Some chose to play some don’t.

I myself have built my collection on the grey market. I would prefer to buy from an AD as I would pay less and have my name on the card. I don’t sell I add. So if I can get nice watches from an AD I think a $100-$200 gesture is appropriate. I would have had to spend thousands more on the grey market. Hence why I don’t buy them gifts. lol

Yup. Otherwise maybe something like a gift card to a restaurant.

Purchase something else, that is in stock, from her. Even an inexpensive jewelry item.

I always send a handwritten note for any watch. Then for hard to get: handwritten note and a gift. For women AD’s a Diptyque candle. For men AD’s I send Acqua di Parma or a pocket square if they wear suits

Are you guys serious? Gifts, lol? Just buy another watch out of the case, a not hard to find one that’s just sitting there. More business is the best “gift”.

Oh and, “pictures or it didn’t happen”.

Congrats on the purchase

Call me old-fashioned, but the AD should be gifting the customer something not the other way around. I'm still laughing at the suggestion of a diamond Cartier love bracelet ...and "don't forget the manager and store owner as well"

If you're doing gifts, something like a diamond tennis bracelet, or diamond Cartier love bracelet would suffice. Don't give her a plain gold Cartier. Don't forget the manager and store owner as well, cause ultimately she had to get their permission.

I think a nice phone call and saying that you would like to buy her and the others a pizza or pizzas would be most genuine. Personally I feel a bottle appears to be a bit over the top.

I bought my AD a nice bottle of tequila after my first purchase as a gesture that I appreciated doing business with them and enjoyed the experience. It was very well received. It doesn’t need to be seen as a bribe or anything of the sort, simply to show that you are grateful for the relationship you have built, especially after receiving a highly desirable piece that they did not have to sell to you.
