I’m actually considering a rado too, I know they’re not too popular around here but if there’s a good black Friday deal, I might pull the trigger
The Rado Captain Cooks look really good. Nice variation on dial color, bezel color and strap color and type.

Other watches I’ve been considering are the Omega No Time to Die Seamaster (beautiful but overpriced), the Zenith Chronomaster Sport and the Tag Heuer Monaco Gulf edition.

Omega, Tudor, and Grand Seiko have entered my collection in the last few years. All great brands.

I am waiting for a 124060 from my AD as a way to celebrate a milestone birthday coming up next April. They have been telling me that it shouldn't be a problem. I told them my next milestone that I want to celebrate is with a 126710 BLRO Pepsi on Oyster. That's in a couple more years, so I said I'll patiently wait for that one since it likely will take more time and I am not in a rush on that one.

In the meantime, I have been eyeing the 42mm Breitling SuperOcean in blue on blue rubber. It looks like it would be absolutely perfect for summer days out on our sailboat and swimming. These are readily available with discounts and it would be a great summer sport watch.

Agreed as well. Rolex is fine, it is the market is cRaZy due to far too much currency being available. Try getting an exotic car, Hermes bag, or other luxury items.

We live in interesting times.

Lol....these are my favorite type posts in these "frustration" kind of threads.

"I've had it with ROLEX and the AD's". "I'll just buy a Patek or AP @ retail instead"!

Like that is going to be any easier....

In the middle of Rolex silliness, I've been able to round out my collection with Tudor (GMT, 925), Omega (Speedy), and JLC (Master Control Geographic). Honestly it's been fun to build up my personal collection this way, even if it's not full of what people would consider to be hot models.

I otherwise was able to snag a 114060 from my AD last year, and am gauging what GMT to go for from here, if that'll even be possible.

Rock on, bravo! It is great fun finding timepieces to add to your collection.

Me and wife? We've added the Heuer Monaco Gulf, a Cartier Tank XL the wife and i share, Omega Speedy, and a few others. Just got a set of limited edition timepieces for wife and i (matching pieces) by an independent.

Tudor has some truly epic models too.

Guess if someone here is only a Rolex person, it's really easy as all they have to do is simply wait it out a few more years and see where the market is at that time. For now, think about home improvement projects, or that trip to the Maldives...

Have fun and enjoy your time

On Ch24 I have rejected offer for new Tudor BB 58 in April 2019 for 3,4K EUR. Today I can buy it for 3,4K as well (if I would sell today used loss but max. 20% I guess). Basic moonwatch kept stable value for many years (before new version). Some brands like Breitling is a bit of gambling. Buy those only preowned at discount. Other brands than Rolex, PP, AP (RO) will drop significantly when the watch prices will be in corrction phase. No one would buy Rado then.

Americaine also quite timeless in style.

Yes, I actually had a look at a captain cook the other day. I’ve decided though that if I’m going to get a rado, I want a quintessential rado rather than one that is basically a cheaper version of a submariner. I like the look of the rado centrix skeleton in ss/ceramic and rose gold colour. It’s a nice dress piece.

Do people leave Rolex for something like Omega? Maybe some, but there is no evidence that the number is large enough to make any difference.

Based on the 2020 Morgan Stanley study, in 2020 Omega’s market share grew by 30 basis points from 2019 to the 8.8% in 2020. In contrast, the study reports, Rolex’s 2020 market share grew by 290 basis points over 2019. Rolex’s market share for 2020 shot up to 24.9%.

It is therefore quite far fetched to argue any market-wide movement of Rolex customers switching to brands like Omega, since Rolex dwarfs Omega in not just market share growth but also market share. In fact, if anything, the MS study confirms the market trend of consumers increasingly gravitating towards the privately-held premium brands like Rolex, AP or PP rather than the publicly-held brands like Swatch or LVMH.

If the trend holds, the future of mechanical watch belongs to the premium brands, the mid- to low-range brands will find it increasingly hard to survive.

All the others - ALS, FPJ, PP, VC, Omega, Tudor, all beautiful watches to be part of a collection - nothing has changed.

I have my eye on two GS's at the moment. Both GMTs, one is more of a dress watch. I'm kind of digginf Sinn lately as well.

I still think the Omega 300M Diver is the best bang for your buck in the horological universe..

I have a Tudor LHD and a very underrated Longines Heritage Diver at the moment. I couldn't see myself with just one brand. Maybe that will change if I'm able to get a Rolex in the future, but I'll never get rid of my new 3861 SS Moonwatch...ever.
