It's really not a necessity though. I won't mind not having it at all.

I have always stipulated a date function, however I decided to get a BB58 for a recent age related milestone and have been wearing it almost daily and I have not had issues with the lack of date. There is nothing worse than having to set the date on watch that has no quickset option (my 1680) it can take a long time if the date range isnt favourable. But that is a 1st world problem.

When you get older you can’t even read the date through the cyclops

I used to always wear a watch with a date.. when I’d put on a no date piece it would bother me and I’d immediately go back.. recently I fell back in love with a Speedmaster. Not having a date bothered me for about a week, but then it slowly went away to a point that it no longer matters.

I wear my 14060 most week days.

The biggest issue I have is tapping the crystal when I check the time after wearing my Apple cellular iWatch for a few days.

Haven't set the date for years and years.

Apart from the calendar in the kitchen, there are so many other places to check the date, and who doesn't have a 'phone that shows the date these days.

I watch the TV early news most mornings, I'm an old geezer, but I'm lucky enough to still have a memory span of at least one day.

Mind you, I sometimes forget what day of the week it is!

Hmmmm.......I hear a possible, DD purchase approaching.

I have watches with and without the date complication. I will have to admit I use the date often when filling out reports (hand writen) and find myself looking for the date reference when I wear a ND watch.

Prefer a date on my watches. I guess i'm old school and have always looked to my watch for such information. I don't carry my phone around no more than I have to.

I had a moonwatch as my only watch for so long that I’ve gotten very comfortable having no date.

It’s one of those things that it’s nice to have but once you get used to it not being there it’s no biggie.

I find the date function to be convenient but not necessary. I’ve got my computer and my phone at my fingertips. So I’m just as happy with my Daytonas as I am with my GMTs, DSSD JC and Sky-dweller. You’ll get used to it

Initially I would have said yes but then I realized how much I actually look for the date in my normal routines and it’s not that often. On vacation though I do want a date on my watch as the schedules are more important with activities and why I travel with my LV. The last watch I would ever want or to see a date function on is my Daytona.

I won't own a watch without a date function. I use it, and need it. For some reason I want to know the date, and I forget it all the time. There are so many comments about always having a phone or computer available to check the date or time. I strive every day to do the complete opposite. My goal is to use my mechanical watch more, and detach from the stupid phones and computers. Especially the phones. I leave mine on the counter more and more each day. It feels great.

It is a matter of personal preference. I would not eliminate ownership of a watch just because of the date/no date option. I have seen watches that integrate the date in beautifully while others, not so well. I own a ND Submariner, two Daytona's and a slew of other Tudors and a few Speedmasters that do not have the date. I also own many others that have the date. In the end I do not need the date as I know what the date was yesterday, is today and what it will be tomorrow. I also know which months have how many days and even when leap year is. If you are looking to the date more than once a day then you might need to slow down and focus a bit. Just my thoughts and preferences.

For me, it's all about lifestyle/vocation. When I was working, a no date watch absolutely drove me nuts.

These days, as I'm retired, I could care less.

The only time I need the date is when I’m at my desk and it’s right there on the computer screen. I coincidentally have a four watch collection, all no dates. There have been maybe two or three times in the last year where I had to actually pull my phone out to check.

So I have watches with and without the date function. Either way, it’s not a deal breaker for me.

But I have a question for the guys saying they can’t live without the date function.

Do you really forget what date it is on a daily basis and constantly need to refer to your watch?

Yesterday was the 16th. I don’t need to look at my watch to find out what todays date is. I know it’s the 17th.

So what’s going on there?

I went with a no-cyclops Sea Dweller to have the best of both worlds. But I would be happy with a no-date option also. An Explorer I is high on my list for example and I don’t miss anything when wearing one of my other no-date watches.
No cyclops for me.

I can answer this from my perspective. When I'm at work, I deal with a lot of different expiration dates. Some are 24 hours, some 9 days, some 30 days, etc. A lot of these have to be hand written by me. So, I'm always running different dates through my head. I think that's why I get confused after a while, and need to look at my watch often to reset where I'm at. And I'm not always dealing with these dates while in front of a computer. I also don't have my phone on me while working (even though everyone else does).

Total necessity for me unless it’s a dress watch that I’m wearing for 8-10 hours,,,
Tried with no date daily’s but it never worked ,,,,

I’ve had explorer II as well as an 11 series sub date.

My daily is 124060 sub, I don’t miss the date for a second. Sure as hell don’t miss adjusting the date just about every month. I get the date when I need it from the tools requiring it, ie computer.

I wore a DJ for so many years that looking at the date on my watch just became second nature. I still generally prefer a date for daily-wear/work, but also prefer the symmetry/clean-look of a no-date for some watches.

To take it one-step-further, I love a day/date, annual calendars & perpetual calendars. But, I remember the first time I saw the JLC (a brand I love) Master Ultra Thin Perpetual (the Dr. Strange watch) with the Arabic year cut-out on the dial, thinking- "Even I can remember the year."

I don’t at all. My job doesn’t really need me to know the date. I’m usually on my computer. I actually prefer the simplicity of no-date watches. My collection is exclusively no-date watches.

Most of my watches have the date displayed, but a couple that I have in rotation do not. I miss the date when I wear a watch without.

Got rid of date watches. Not a big deal but a bit more a pain to set. Also don’t really need it.

It is a very minor convenience. If you can’t get the date from any number of personal devices within 10 seconds, not sure what to tell you.

When I drank I needed the date. Now, not. Two of my three Rolexes and many of my other watches do not have dates. They are equally interchangeable. Don’t miss the date at all when it’s not there.
