I'm a little late to the party, but in my head this would make an interesting "daily driver" project. Take it to Rolex, pay $2-3k in service costs, and next thing you know you have a Red 1680 with luminova that you can wear every day without worrying too much on the value and originality. It's actually sort of intriguing to me at that level. I've seen a 1675 with a similar concept, and it actually works well if you're not a "serious" collector.
