Vintage Rolex dealers in NYC

Hello all!

Based on a recommendation on my previous thread, I'm hoping if anyone could point me to some vintage Rolex dealers in NYC that they know if and trust. I'm kind of trepidatious to go to Manhattan's Diamond District without proper knowledge or knowing what I'm getting myself into.

If you have any recommendations for good dealers in NYC, please let me know. I'm basically looking for an entry-level, 4-digit or 5-digit Rolex Date or DateJust. Nothing too fancy.

Thanks in advance.

A 4-digit datejust isn’t entry level.

It is entry level for a 36mm Rolex...there is nothing else you can cheaper at that size.

For a 34mm the cheapest models are Oysterdate Precision....followed by OP Date on steel.

As a longtime New Yorker, I can tell you there are not a lot of good options for vintage watch shopping in NYC. I know that might sound odd for such a huge city not to have a many places to browse for vintage watches, but there's just not.

Some good suggestions above, including Analog Shift, which has a great office/store set-up in Midtown. Andrew Shear, based in NYC, is a great high-end dealer, but being able to buy a watch from him nowadays is tough because he sells them so quickly.

Important: Avoid _repeat_ avoid the Diamond District for vintage. The only reason to go there is for more modern Rolexes, and even then you need to be careful. I'd also avoid Aaron Faber, for the record.

Hodinkee occasionally has what you’re looking for.

Overpriced, but every now and then the Double RL (Ralph Lauren) store in Soho has some interesting vintage pieces. They also sell some Natos there.

Therealreal has two NYC locations and you can check the stock online and see which store has what. They usually have plenty of datejusts

I second Iliketime's recommendation of Altiques, John Crescitello down on Bowery. He's an excellent resource, I've known him 27 years. As for Deco on Fifth, his prices can be variable, but I've gotten some nice pieces from him and he doesn't misrepresent, he'll let you know if any part of a watch is sketchy, but you have to know what you're looking for, and what you're looking at. His bubbleback prices are on the high side.
