Unbelievably low stock in Spain

Been to 4 ADs so far in Barcelona and Granada. They have maybe 25 watches on display. Nothing exciting. Really low stock.

You would think with the demand so high that Rolex would expand its production

Perhaps they did and they are selling the newly expanded production units just as fast. Since they don't supply production numbers we won't really ever know.

Madrid

It wasn't too long ago where I casually walked into this AD in Madrid and walked out with a BLNR. Ahh, the good old days of 2015....

Was there earlier this summer, saw a DJ41 Roman / white dial / Jubilee / steel bezel in the window, walked in and tried it on (it was hot from the direct sunlight, always makes me chuckle when that happens, and I also worry about the movement getting baked, LOL).

Ended up not pulling the trigger because the Romans on the white dial just didn't look right to me, and I missed the Fluted bezel. But seeing one in the window was fun given the current supply shortages. Other dealers up and down the street had nothing of interest.

Visited an AD here in NY last month. Largest SS watch they had were 34mm OPs. Literally not one other SS watch, no 39mm OPs, no 36mm DJs, and no Daytona’s!!!!! Lol. Obviously the last watch is a joke. But for reals, they had nothing. They said they’re not even able to order DJs.

Same story when I was out of state went to a small dealer had 4 cases and two wall spots. Only 2 cases had watches maybe 20 in all.

I can understand they don’t have OP39. But not having Daytona?? C’mon...

Was in Grenada this lest weekend. Walked past the Rolex AD on the way to our hotel on Thursday evening. There was an Airking and Explorer 1 in the window. Neither was there by the following lunchtime!

I'll be in Barcelona in 2 weeks. Interested in the DJ 36mm. I wonder if buying there will be less expensive than in the USA, considering the VAT refund.
Rolex lists 5 ADs in a two miles radius.

Barca is a well off city with a huge tourist market = no surprise.

Granada is quite touristy too, I'd imagine most is kept for return clients and locals.

This photo looks almost identical to the display at our local AD...same models...or lack thereof. The other display held the Cellini and the diamond-encrusted pieces.

A GV Milgauss Black Dial has sat in the window of an AD in Barcelona for the past 3 days.
Same with a BB58 leather strap.
The AD's don't have stock which is true ,unless you want a Yachmaster 2 or Platinum Day Date, however, I sense that buyers are also drying up.

Production has been increased exponentially and those AD pieces still go straight to the greys at a premium. "It pays the bills" as many have quoted and in turn helps Rolex strengthen the brand.

Speaking of ADs selling to greys, I went on a trade delegation to Asia and amongst the businesses coming along was an AD dealing exclusively with selected high end watch brands. Might be perfectly good reasons for it but at least for a moment I had some conspiracy theory going in my mind.

I don’t think they would risk the AD status and therefore I don’t think they sold watches to grey there.

I know for a fact it’s happening in Italy though. They cross sell to each other in some cases, so they can sell ‘second hand’ inventory.
