First Rolex, Buying Question

Hi everyone,

After recently receiving a big promotion at work, the time is finally right to treat myself to a Rolex. I had what might be a stupid question, when I go to an AD, can I configure the exact watch I want and then they order it for me, or am I limited to whatever watches they have in stock?

I ask because I specifically want a Steel/white gold datejust with roman numerals and white dial.

Hello. It will not be the case where they will configure for you but basically you’ll either have to find a dealer that has the configuration you’re looking for or they will find one for you. Good luck with your search.

Welcome. It will be difficult to see this model in store. Likely be a special order. The datejusts are slightly easier to order than SS sports models. But blue and rhodium dials currently in higher demand. Actually all dial colors are difficult right now esp with fluted bezel. Having lived in the SF area before, Torneau on Market is not where you want to go for your first watch/ sit down champagne experience. They treated me well at Kern's. My friends have purchased from Heller's in San Ramon and I also like the AD in Walnut Creek.

Go in, chat with the salesperson, and configure the exact one you want with the dial color you want. But try on various DJ's in the store to make sure that is the model you want. I wore one for over 20 years and loved it.

Great feedback, thank you. I was actually planning on stopping into Tourneau, but walking in off Market street, with homeless people right outside, wasn't exactly the vibe I was going for for this purchase. Dad lives in Walnut Creek and heard good things about the AD out there, will check it out.
