Grand Seiko Quartz Dilemma

I have been considering a Grand Seiko Quartz model for a while now, and I am torn. I was amazed at how much I loved the case on the SBGV207, it is so refreshing and just totally different than anything I have tried on. Only problem is, I'm not sure I want another black dial watch.

Then I discovered the SBGV225, I really like the blue dial and the case is very well done, but doesn't compare to the case of the SBGV207.

Would you choose between 2 watches for their case or dial? I have a Submariner / Speedmaster / Seiko SKX007 and was thinking something other than black would be nice. I like these quartz pieces for the price point and an easy grab and go option that is sleek and fits under a shirt cuff with ease.

I am aware GS does make a blue dial version of the SBGV207 but it is not available in Canada and suddenly becomes double the price when sourced from chrono24. I am simply not interested when it hits this price point.

What do you think?

I would go for the 207 or the older 007. This was my second choice after the SBGT235 which I chose for the day/date. Have you tried Rakuten or Japanese sellers on ebay?

I would go with the blue since it’s something different. Me personally like having a different color or some of variation between dials.

Blue.

Seiko makes some nice blue leather straps with deployant which would give that watch a totally different vibe when you want it.

No I have not looked into those options. Ideally I want to buy locally but I will check it out. Thanks.

That’s such a crappy depiction (as are all GS website pics). That dial is stunning in the metal.

My vote would be blue given your current collection . Was thinking of getting one myself but still trying to see it in person.

I have seen both in person, and the blue looks great! Still just torn because I feel like I will be wishing for the other case, but if I get the black one I will likely be bored with another black dial. There is a really sweet Spring Drive with the case I like and a blue dial, but that gets to the price point where for a few grand more I can get a Datejust 41. Apples to oranges for sure but that is my logic haha..

I purchased my Grand Seiko quartz from SeiyaJapan and it was a very positive experience. If it is not in his website, why not send him an email and ask if he can get the blue dial version of the SBGV207 that you really want?
