I truly believe the SD43 probably started as a project to either update the Sub to 43mm or explore the possibility.
They probably could have replaced the sub with this case (minus HRV). Perhaps someday they will. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Same here, after wearing for 30 years Rolex watches, I found my grail: SD43
I have in a drawer my SubC, no wrist time anymore for the venerable 116610. The SD43 is exactly the watch I want. Enviado desde mi SM-G975F mediante Tapatalk |

Its pretty clear that a 40mm blk bezel ceramic sub would be useless in a collection with a SD43. However, I have a diminutive (by comparison) 5513 that I still love. Smurf and Hulk. All coexist with the SD43 without any issues.

Have to disagree. I have both a black bezel SubC Date and a SD43. Love wearing the SubC to work. A bit less presence on the wrist under a shirt sleeve. But, look forward to the SD43 at the end of the day and on weekends. If I had to have only one, it would be the SD43, no question but right now I'm lucky enough to have both and really enjoy them.

I like the SD43 but it would not be my only watch, if I wanted big I’d keep the DSSD JC, but in reality I’d probably keep something closer to 40mm.

The SD43 is fantastic, gets a lot of my wrist time. But I don’t see selling my other watches to only wear it. But if it’s the end all be all for you, it’s hard to argue the point.

I sold all my watches but one because I grew tired of stressing about my watches. No other reason. I've been purging my collection for years because of the angst I started to feel with my collection. I noticed I was spending way more time than I should deciding which watch to wear, when, and why....especially when I hadn't worn some watches for months. My issue and just the way I'm wired. Decided to purge to see how far I could get where I didn't feel that way. Sold 4 immediately, then got down to 8 total, 6, 3, 2, and finally found a watch that I enjoyed watching solely.

I’ll say this, if I decided to get rid of all my watches except one, and not buy more, my SD43 would be the one I keep. Glad you are happy where you are with your watches. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Explorer 2 Polar, SD43, and gold Skydweller would seem to be pretty complete "large" case Rolex collection.
