I am so happy with mine... partly because of the related new job... I hope I can wear my others sometime soon!!!

It was the right DD for me, though so many in this post are BEAUTIFUL.

My wife and I, in Paris. Upon her not noticing it, but asking "So, are you going to get that watch?" to which I replied "I've been wearing it for almost three weeks and you have not noticed!".

Where do you get the dials and who installs them? I was told by a AD when buying a dial the AD keeps the old one. Rolex policy.

I would like this style in black dial.

I think that style of markers, called “deconstructed Roman,” is also only available on the 6-digit (post-2000) DDs. If Rolex swaps a dial, they do keep the old one, but you can buy a dial on eBay etc. and have it installed by an independent, it’s not a big job. Rolex will only install a dial which was available when the watch was new, and their stock for older models may be limited.

I know you want Romans, but here’s my 18239 with black dial, to give you some idea ...

Here’s a better pic with lighting so you can see the Everose

WOW! I mean how does she NOT notice a YG DD 40mm??

To quote Jack Forster in his article, The Tale of Two Day Dates...

“...the ur-Day-Date doth not hide its light under a bushel by mimicking steel, whether with platinum or white gold; and though there is a certain sense of barbaric opulence to be found in an Everose case and bracelet, I honestly think that the sort of triumphant, sacker-of-cities vibe you get from that combination works better for a Daytona.”

“If it is not in your comfort zone to wear a wristwatch that is instantly recognizable to a surprisingly large fraction of the Earth's citizenry, in good light or bad, from half a city block away, this is not for you.”

Great article BTW — suggest anyone who enjoys the Day Date to read it...lots of fun and Jack is AMAZING writer

Her unobservance is legendary in our family... we have accepted that we are all good at different things and observation is NOT hers!

Perhaps you could slip a new PT DD with an ice dial into the mix without her observing for a while...

I own this reference and it is stunning. Not that many came with the glacier waves Arabic dial which I think is the most gorgeous dial they have ever made. Should be able to get one in the high 20’s.
