AD in Shangai

Going to Shangai soon.

Any AD you would recommend there? Is it worth paying them a visit or it is going to be the same crazyness we see anywhere else in the world?

Thanks for your input!

I hear there are a ton of gray dealers there with inventory to last a decade. But not MSRP so I skip.

Will be just as crazy. You can try but don't expect to find anything.

Good luck

I'm not sure about Rolex MSRP pricing in China either. Cartier shops I went to before were nearly 2-3x the price of a U.S. Cartier Boutique. Probably still better than GM SS prices though depending on what you're looking for.

Rolex prices are higher in SH due to import duty. There are some AD On The Bund walkway. It’s a nice walk and some decent shopping, but don’t expect to find any sports models.

Import duty yes, but normally I can claim VAT back at the airport, no? It would still be more than Europe?

And thanks for the walkway tip! I will check.

As far as I know, China has a special "luxury tax" on luxury goods. Thus the higher prices.

I think there is also luxury tax too. I haven’t been back there the last year so can’t tell you exactly the current state or depletion of stock. There are also some co-signment stores that carry used Rolex worth checking out. It’s all near the Bund. Have a good trip.
