How much did the Jubilee cost you, and how long did it take to get in?

We are talking about minute hairline scratches on the back side of the lugs that will take seconds to fix with a $30 implement, and you are suggesting sending it to Rolieworks?

I was in a grey dealer today here in Hong Kong and the subject turned to Jubilee versus Oyster. The guy said the Jubilee (especially under the sweaty conditions facing Hong Kongers needed very regular cleaning. I asked how often he cleaned his watch and he thought I wanted him to clean MY watch. He said that I should do it daily and then remove the bracelet every fortnight. He said, “Give me two hours and I will clean yours no charge - just tell your friends and give them my card”.
I had read your post earlier and despite the impression that he was a really nice guy, I declined his offer (with thanks) rationalising that it was unnecessary surgery to remove the Jubilee. A subset of us human beings tend to acquire things and fret like crazy as they begin to decay from day 1. For the Seinfeld watchers, I remember the plastic covered couch/lounge that completely dominated George’s parents furniture to keep it looking new. I’m sorry you got the annoying scratches. I’m prepared to admit that for some things, the urge to keep it like new could get in the way of enjoying it. Hope it gets tidied up for you and use it happily for years. . IAP. |
