Nice. Glad to see that aren't itching to retire the 42mm.

Just seems retro with the old pushers and with the older 42s being in the mid to low 20's, it's a hard sell imo.

Looks great, maybe best AP 42 gold release... would love to see it side by side with the previous grey dial/white subdials...

draining stock of modular Chrono's in preparation for in house. I wouldn't touch any ROO with 10 meter pole until they ship them with in house movement.

Put ceramic bezel on at the same time and it will do well.

If/when will that really happen to the ROO? Totally see them putting in the ROC sooner than later since that's still an outsourced movement but the ROO runs on the mostly in house 3126 and the DD module has been part of its design from the beginning. If they change it then I would guess it would still be a few years off.

AP has screwed customers over in the past with massive price cuts but now they seem MUCH more focused on value retention and doubt they would want to tank ROO value on the secondary market.

Agree with this + I was one of those that got burned with the price cut. I bought a brand new rose gold rubber clad on Christmas Eve around 7/8 years ago then literally 5 weeks later AP dropped the price by 33% on all pm models. Although the drop was a tough pill to swallow at the time, it later enabled me to buy the platinum 44mm so it worked out ok in the end.

A ROO with the new movement would have the same layout as the ROC.

Its going to make some pretty significant changes to the watch, some might prefer the original layout with the inner bubble date VS the slanted date and all subdials at the bottom.

That's what lead me to buy the Pt 44mm as well. Was waiting on the Ti Schumi but the price cut wasn't on the LEs. The PT went from over $100k down to $70k retail so thought it was the better deal. Still one of my all time favorite watches and one of the best deals for an AP with current prices.

I don’t care about an in house chrono movement for my Offshore-it’s not what this watch is about imo.

In the real world I don’t think many Offshore buyers are bothered about an in house movement, maybe 5% tops and it wouldn’t surprise me if more than 5% of people who want an Offshore think it’s battery powered.

I think it's going to be a while before the new fully integrated chrono movement ends up in the ROO. It'll end up in the ROC first as they ramp up production of that movement. They aren't going to throw it in everything overnight ... they'll take it very slow, monitor potential issues, etc.

And I agree with Ash, for some reason I care a lot less about a completely in-house movement in a ROO compared to a ROC, which I wouldn't currently purchase with the F. Piguet caliber 1185 (as good as that movement is).

Great looking watch - agree, the brushed CE bezel would look fab on it.

Not retro at all. Have always thought the 42 with round ceramic pushers were way more elegant than the clumsy flat pushers on the 44.

solid RG on a bracelet deserves the nickname brick. Truly gorgeous.

well, worked out well to AP quite frankly, not to you. I would have insisted on refunding the difference or returning the watch.

I've had 2 ROO's that had Chrono issues, and 3 other friends also had issues with the movement a couple of months after owning the watch. Modular Chrono is troublesome and not worth the premium we're forking out on those watches. I would expect AP to invest and ramp up the in house movement instead of taking the easy way out.

But probably QA is a global issue in AP. My 15400 suddenly stops ticking and losing power reserve. 2 ROO's also stopped working and required service. 26547st PC failed to change months at multiple occasions. All of this was within 6 months of ownership of each watch.

Don't forget to wait a couple years for them to work out the kinks and prices to go down and then maybe some more to refresh it.

I like the current setup with the modular and magnified sunken date. It differentiates the offshore quite a lot from the ROC.

Just wondering if they use the inhouse movement and both watches have the same layout... its gonna look quitr similar...

Me too.

I think the in-house will happen eventually ... just not in the near future.

It will have to have the same subdial layout and date placement (which I'm not a huge fan of - although at least the date is properly centered between 4 and 5 o'clock on the 11:59) but they'll still differentiate it a lot with all other aspects of the design.
