Does the warranty start at the date stamped on the papers?

Hi All,

Need your expert opinions. I’m fairly new to AP and sorry if the question seems obvious but I recently bought an AP Diver J series. Date indicated by the AD on the certificate is Dec’17 and the original owner said he hasn’t registered the watch since acquiring it from the AD.

So I register the watch online under my name thinking I can get a warranty extension until 2020 but AP website says that the warranty started on Dec’16 (and has been extended now up until Dec’19)—- does AP start the warranty count when the AD stamps the papers or when the AD accepts delivery of the watch in their store (seems odd to me if this is the case)?

Thanks in advance for your inputs

It should begin from the point of sale. If you contact AP with a copy of the stamped booklet they will adjust for you.

Warranty starts when the watch is sold. If it’s dated Dec’17, that is what it should be (+- a few days depending on AD’s routines). How the warranty process works is that the AD/boutique register the sale digitally in APs systems. When you register the piece in your profile on AP’s website you will see exactly when warranty expires.

Thanks! But what I’m more concerned about is the start of the warranty displayed on the AP site (Dec’16) which is a full year prior to what was indictated on the warranty certificate that is stamped Dec’17. So in essence, what I’m confused about is the different start time of the warranty between what the website displays and the papers; not when it expires (though if the watch was purchased on Dec’17, the warranty should expire on Dec’20)

It’s not uncommon for less than reputable sellers to monkey with the warranty. I would check with the AD to see if they have any records showing date of sale.

Thanks for the input! Will do that depending on the response of AP after my email inquiry

Best is to check with the AD as well. Watches sold in 2017 qualifies for a 3 year warranty extension when registered online which will give you the peace of mind till Dec 2022 instead of 2019.

They reset the start date for mine this way to the day of sale. No issues whatsoever and correct date then showed on the website last time I looked.

Wow, I have to commend AP service. I just emailed them the information as suggested here and in 10mins, the start date of the warranty of my AP Diver was corrected. Plus, they extended my warranty until 2022

Amazing customer service! Never experienced this much customer satisfaction in all my years dealing with Rolex (though they’re pretty good as well in their own right). Looking forward now to my next AP purchase!
