DJ 41 Vs OP - REVISITED WITH POLL RESULTS
Ok if my previous post had of been a poll as some of you suggested, the results were:
DJ would be 55% OP would be 35% Then a 10% " both" or " either" The background for the quandary: I'm in the process of culling the collection a little, I have a good few watches of various brands... I am trying to tick Various boxes, with a limited number of watches... I'd like to get a real "wearer" watch identified. I think it should be a Rolex. But as my "vintage" box is ticked by my birthyear submariner - I'm thinking the "wearer" should be a non sports. I've come around to looking at these two, in part because of the current difficulty in obtaining other watches, where as years ago I used to swap through the collection with ease trying various types of sports watches. Now flipping through per se is a punitive affair and so in order not to ruffle feathers and suffer flipper reprocussions with my ad I'm only buying watches I really really really want. That has sent me to the grey market and of course, they're all a bit toppy price wise for me. These two however I got under RRP and feel relatively lucky with that result. They're both Decent "one watch" type asset's to a lot of regular non wis folk. Handsome, reliable, suit dress and casual... Water proof and are both forgiving of an active life. The OP to me seems less obtrusive, perhaps plainer, which is what I thought I wanted. But if I'm honest- leaves me feeling slightly underwhelmed : more than I'd like. The DJ has more presence, but is also perhaps more bling than I was setting out for... Of course having said that, most Rolex are now, shiny things ... All things considered. I can see myself heading back to the sub 14060 ... Full circle... Darn these first world problems... But I really don't want a bunch of subs !!! I'm sure some of you can empathize with the frustration, even given that there is so much to enjoy and be greatful for. It's not easy trying to get a sweet spot of just 3... Have any of you got two/three watch collection you feel ticks all the boxes...??? |

Very interesting topic. I am lucky owner of classical black OP39 (I wear suits 95% of time) after few years with DJ36. Well, I have to say, that size is absolutely ideal. In my opinion 36 seems too small on my wrist. And DJ 41 is not balanced, visually too large. As for everyday watch I have only few problems with OP 39: I need date and easylink.
