Getting a Specific Rolex Watch

Hi

Does anyone know what's the best way to get any of the below watches?

1. GMT Master II Pepsi or Batman
2. Submariner Date Hulk or Black
3. Daytona - Black of White.

Which of the above are the most hardest to find?

How is that some folks on this forum are able to get some of these watches especially as first time buyers?

Depending on where you live in the US you should not have that much trouble obtaining a black Sub or a BLNR from an AD, even without a purchase history. A BLRO or LV will be tougher. A Daytona, forget it.

I live in Philadelphia. Which other places usually have a good inventory?

How are some folks over here able to get the Daytonas considering its rarity? I am curious to know how long some have actually waited or if this entirely about the purchase history.

Do you actually like / want to own one of these watches... Or do you just want to acquire something which is hard to get?

The best way to get them is to buy them. They are all very easy to find.

Thru a single AD it will probably take years and you will most likely never get the the Daytona. If you want them now they are all available from grey market in classifieds. If you go grey market buy from dealers with history. Be careful of private sellers. Be prepared for a premium on all those watches thru grey.

I found luck by sticking to a smaller, locally owned AD. The chains are terrible for this. The big stores are only interested in moving volume, not getting Joe Smith the watch he actually wants.

Got my Sub Date that way, now have a shot at getting a GMT.

In the title you say specific watch.

Yet you name 6 watches, if you go to an AD with the attitude of naming most of the hot watches, you will be shown the door.

You just sound like a flipper.

Having just read the OP’s 6 posts, they have no idea of Rolex or watches in general, so probably is looking to flip.

Good read. I also just bought a BLNR as a first time buyer from a new AD.

That may be true

It does look like more and more SS professionals are trickling in to main stream buyers as posted above in #22

from your post, it looks like you paid above MSRP for your watch, right?

Incorrect. I was offered to purchase a new BLNR for $13k from my family AD but found a local AD who just sold it to me at MSRP.

From one of sm84's posts:

What are the other hot models from Rolex?

Sounds quite 'flippery', right?

I'm usually greeted at the door at a new AD being asked if I want a water, coffee or stainless steel Daytona. I'm not sure what you're doing wrong.

What I do is go to my rooftop and flash a distress signal device- a specially modified Klieg searchlight with the Batman logo with a Rolex crown inside. Granted, it helps that I reside in a cloudy place like Chicago, so the light reflects on the clouds. I'll even use light filters to specify what sort of watch I'd like- sometimes it's a bright blue, juxtaposed on the black of the night sky- or sometimes it's a purplish-blue with a somber red, or sometimes an industrial blue with a dark red. You'll know which one to use after you've chosen Mk I, Mk II, etc etc.

Find an established comedian (30+ years) and help him write a few seasons for his hit TV show. He'll gift you a Submariner and engrave something sweet on the back. Just be careful to not do anything lewd to your coworkers, or else you'll be forced to keep staring at your Submariner so people can see where your hand is.

The Boysenberry GMT chronograph. It's an incredibly rare release of the GMT+Daytona, designed by Rolex to appease flippers and save them the trouble of having purchase both. After a short while, though, the Rolex executives decided that they'd rather be caught surfing Gary Glitter's computer collection than give flippers the light of day. Thus, they stopped producing the Boysenberry GMT chronograph. If you can get your hands on one, you can flip it for 420% profit and give Pejman G. something to brag about in his spam emails.

Basically, first time buyers prove their worthiness by wearing Borat's suspendor mankini thong with their top-hat and cane. Then they buy some LV shoes and dance up the Las Vegas strip to Frank Valli's "Can't Take My Eyes Off of You" while juggling shrooms that police seized from TJ Miller's home. It has to be those shrooms, as Rolex ADs will inspect them for authenticity. If you can jump through those hoops (and by "hoops," I mean the earrings Nicki Minaj wore from 2011-2016; you can rent them at Caesar's) then you'll move up to the first place on the infamous Rolex wait list.

Good luck!
