Letting go a 114270 or a 16610
Chaps,
Some of you might remember that I started a topic not too long ago about trading a 16610 for a brand new 114060. I've decided to go for it, and I am supposed to do it in January. Now I thought about selling the 16610 A serial from 1999 swiss only dial, but now I am thinking about selling my y serial 114270 and add money. My question to you, what would you do? Sell a 16610 and get a brand new 114060 Or sell a 114270 and add money? Cheers! |

I would let go Explorer. 5 digit submariner will always be iconic watch and will only appreciate in value.

I’ll throw a curveball... why not just wait and save for a 114060? They aren’t making 5 digit Subs or 36mm Explorers - both watches are and will remain icons.
You won’t have a problem picking up a 114060 in mint condition on the secondary market... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

If you’re okay with having a sub and sub date, which have a similar persona, I’d definitely suggest moving the 114270. That’s what I’d do. But it isn’t entirely clear from your message if you’re talking about the original trade deal or a different sale. Assuming it’s the former, will the owner of the 114060 still do the deal with the Explorer plus cash? I wouldn’t want to miss out on a new sub.

I'd move the 114270 and go for the 114060. It sounds like you'll have to pay the new price increase after 1/1/20

Thanks chaps,
Maybe it wasn't clear, but the trade is not with the person who sells me that watch... I am talking about selling either the 114270 or the 16610 separately and then buying the brand new one from him. So letting go one of them is a separate matter... |
