Can sand get under a bezel?

Hello all at TRF! I’m headed to the beach next week and plan to wear my Yacht-Master. Perhaps a ridiculous question, but can-will sand particles get under the bezel?

Obviously I will do the responsible thing and rinse the watch off when I get out of the ocean. But didn’t know if sand is capable of getting up under the bezel.

Would appreciate your thoughts. Thanks!

I asked the same question when mine was new. Hasn't been an issue for me on my beach vacations. PCLs and clasp will get light swirls, though. If that's an issue for you, as it is for many, you might want to pick another watch to take.

Yes, it can. Just rinse it out really good when you’re done.

I get sand under my omega smp frequently. It doesn’t mean the tolerances arnt good, but the sand is so fine. When I get home, I rotate the bezel underwater in the sink with some mild soap, then let it soak, then rotate it some more under water, then take it out and rotate it under running water. This seems to get all the sand out just fine. If you take your watch to the ocean, it’s just gonna happen. It’s isn’t a problem.

Yes it definitely can.. I took my Tudor GMT to California last summer and the bezel got stuck in place after a day at the beach.

Rinse it off well and if that doesnt work, take a bit of tooth floss and it'll help remove any sand stuck inside

Yes it absolutely can. I’ve used floss from time to time to get bits of sand from under the bezel of my sub and sea dweller...other than that just wash it off with cold fresh water when you get a chance, some soap and all will be fine. Enjoy

Never had a problem wearing my Sub on the beach, but yes rotate the bezel when you washing it.

Yes it can, especially if it's really fine sand or dirt. I went on a trip to Antelope Canyon wearing my GMT and the silt is extremely fine and kicks up when people walk in the canyon. My bezel was 'crunchy' for days after even after washing the watch. It's fine now, but I would not recommend wearing it if you're around fine particles that could get caught underneath.

Yes. I've yet to find a manufacturer or watch that has solved the sand riddle in a bezeled watch.

Truth. In fact, you would be surprised at how much grime and dirt can accumulate under the bezel.

Yes. Simple fix. Works every time.

I use a can of compressed air to blow out particles under the bezel. Works very well.
