Paranoid in Baltimore ??

I didn't get any 'paper' warranty with my new Rolex purchase, only the plastic 'credit card '. Is this now standard practice? Also I mentioned in a post yesterday that I recently purchased a new rolex here in Baltimore with quite a few scratches
on the clasp of the bracelet. The AD polished 'most' of them out, but a few
tiny ones remain. the consensue of TRF group replys seemed to be to live with the scratches as they woule inevetiably occur anyway.

I was somewhat suprised by the response and expected to be advised to reutrn the watch for a new braclet, as I have seen advised in the group for a scratch in a crown, for example.

My thinking on this is along the lines of the hypothetical of having purchased a pair of eye new eyeglasses, or anything for that matter, brand new, with a warranty, with scrtaches. Surely, I would return it for a replacement, not a repair. I would think this would apply regarding a Rolex, a few more dollars than my eyeglasses.

Now for the paranoid part. This scracth issue, (why would a brand new Rolex,
especially from the factory, (it was special order, supposedly), be delivered with no paper warranty and scratches? Could I be being misled or ripped off by a AD?
Does this happen? EVER??

Definitely take it easy and calm down!!! If I understand correctly the plastic card is your warranty now instead of paperwork!!! As for the scratches on your bracelet you can always take it back, get a refund and go elsewhere to purchase the watch!!! I doubt that the AD will replace the bracelet with a new one over a few scratches!!!

First, newer Rolex have the credit card deal instead of paper. Was this watch new from the AD? If so, it could have been in the display case for a year or more. Which means it was probably handled and tried on many times which would explain the scratches. You could have asked for a "new" one never unwrapped. Most new watches from the display case have some scratches.

Thanks for your interest, but I'd rather not say yet, until I can get this matter resolved.

I did speak with a rep in Dallas and they advised me to get with the AD and request a new bracelet. That's what I want to see happen.

Take the Rolex back. A brand new watch should be perfect, not scartched. Dont feel bad about bringing back a watch that is not the experience you wanted.

Well as others have said. Rolex has this little plastic credit card type warenty with a translation booklet in place of the old paper copys given out. I bought two Rolex watches. One in 2007 and one in 2008 both have the newer plastic credit card. About the scratches well I have tried on many from the showcase and what you say reminds me of a two tone rose gold datejust that had so many small scratches on it! It almost looked like it was returned or tried on 100 times without any love or care. So it does not seem uncommon that these watches are tried on many times. If your was a special order on the other hand who would be trying it on?

Bracelet will look exactly the same after a week of ownership. Watch was likely ordered from one of their other locations in which it was on display.

Will be visiting my AD first thing in the AM to resolve this issue.
The Dallas CS Rep I spoke to said to visit and to resolve this to
my satisfaction, which will be to replace the bracelet, (or the clasp itself, which is the area which is scratched), at the time of my visit,
or refund my purchase so I can take my business elsewhere.
I sure hope I can keep the actual watch, (head), as I think it is
truly a beauty, and resolve this ridiculous scratched bracelet issue.

Well the thorazine finally kicked in.

Actually returned to the AD and they took care of my issue with the scratched bracelet clasp by replacing the entire
bracelet in the store while I waited! So there back in my good graces,(for what that's worth), and I'd be happy to recommend them. A few people in the Balto. area wanted to know which AD I was dealing with, and I wanted a final resolution to my problem before I said. So, it was J. Brown
Jewelers in Pikesville. As I said, I would recommend them
without hesitation.

I'm trying to post a picture of my new DJ, SS, MOP, WG
fluted bezel, but my damn camera won't cooperate to give me a clear image. If I had any money left, I'd get a new
camera. I guess I'll have to keep trying.

Now, something for the mania. Scotch works.

glad u have the issue resolved...

I too was worried a bit when i saw the credit card instead of a paper(my last rolex purchased over 10 years ago, it had paper) :)
