What is a fair price and where to buy?

Hello all,

I am narrowing down my collection to two watches, a Rolex and a G-Shock. For the Rolex I have narrowed it down to the following two watches:

Option A: Modern Batman on a Jubilee

Option B: Date Just 116200 on a jubillee, with a smooth bezel, baton hands, roulette date wheel, and a black or blue bezel. The reason I chose this iteration is because I love the hidden clasp in the jubilee bracelet, and I LOVE the railroad seconds markers that they got rid of in the newest iteration. I had a no-date sub for a while and I never used the glide lock so I am not really into adjustable bracelets.

I was wondering your thoughts on which watch to go with?

If I do go with the datejust (which I am leaning towards) what is a fair price, and where should I be looking to purchase it from as it is no longer carried in ADs.

Best regards,

Option A is known as the Batgirl, not Batman. Go with the one you like better. If you can't decide now, then wait until you feel confident about your choice.

I would go B. You can contact one of our Trusted Sellers like Justrolexes, DavidSW, OCrolexguy, or Takuya (PM them) and ask them if they can get one and what it would cost.

No, it's not.

A BLNR is still a BLNR, nothing has changed but the bracelet it comes on, as all GMT's have over the years; doesn't make it a different watch any more than it ever did before.

It’s not known as either, it’s the BLNR.

You mean the way the previous GMT II went from the 3085, to the 3185 to the 3186 without having to undergo the comic book brigades assault on it's character.

Why is it considered a "brigades assault on its character"?

"Batgirl" is suddenly seen as an epithet? Are people's' senses of masculinity that... fragile?

"Batgirl" indicates a different watch. I still see people call it "batman" anyway. I personally refer to it as a 126710BNLR and when people call it anything else I simply ask for clarification. What's the big deal?

It's not just the bracelet, but pretty much.
  • Batgirl = 126710BLNR
  • Batman = 116710BLNR

A lot of people will get upset if you call the 126710blnr a batgirl, because they think it's derogatory. I don't share that opinion.

It has nothing to do with masculinity, we could discuss Rolex watches (and not Rollies btw) for ages without using silly nicknames.

Yes, isnt the blnr on jubilee marketed as a mans watch?!!

Its the still the Batman(blnr)to me, i might even go as far to call it the “Fancy” Batman since that jubilee is dressier. Denoting it to batgirl characterizes it as a female watch, and i for one wouldnt want to be wearing a female watch!

Denoting it as "batgirl" makes it just as much of a women's watch as "female stripper" makes said stripper's intended audience female.

So I presume you'll speak up the next time "Batman" is mentioned? FWIW, I agree with you about silly nicknames in general, but my criticism isn't that we're using silly nicknames- it's that we are fine saying "Batman" but if someone says "Batgirl" we lose our s---.

It’s a nickname, we shouldn’t get personal about it. For all purposes it does the job of differentiating the two BLNR’s batman Vs batgirl.

BLNR is better watch but very difficult to get from AD. DJ are mostly available at msrp from AD. I like my name on the card new, so I bought most of my watch from AD only.

I don't care which name people use. But when I read industry websites and blogs, I see "Batman jubilee" fairly often, while I don't think I've seen "Batgirl" anywhere but TRF. Also, if you type "Batman" into the search bar on Rolex's website, you get the current BLNR jubilee. If you type "Batgirl" you don't get anything.

And on topic -- of those two watches I personally prefer the GMT, but that one's going to be much more expensive (or alternatively, much harder to find).

My mom calls it the BLNR MK 2, so I just go with that (don't want to upset mother).

I like the 126710BLNR, where to buy it without paying way over retail?? Good luck with that one.
