Hands are not original to the watch.

Very cool, I have been debating internally if I would get champagne or silver, tried both on a loved them although it takes some guts to pull off the all gold with champagne.

What tells you the hands are not original to this 1972? They seem right to me, but I’m ever-eager to learn, thanks

Believe the original hands to that one had a style that matched the 6 and 9 indices on the dial.

Do you have a pic to illustrate? The closest DD hands I can think of to match that 6/9 are like these below, but those are Wide Boy hands, which wouldn’t have been original on the silver linen ‘72 dial.

Perhaps I am incorrect. That was the one I was thinking about. Did some checking and it seems all linen dials had the hands you show. They also have lume as does the dial so that’s a match. Unless someone here knows otherwise, I kindly retract my comment. Thanks for your enthusiasm - Always a delight to share this hobby.

No sweat - Delight is mutual!
Maybe SubMarine will chime in with his reasoning.

I bought this NOS from my AD back in November.
But though for me a champagne dial is traditional. I found that the shade was too dark and combine that with the hands and the colour of the day/date disc found it difficult to read.
So I took the plunge and sent it back to Rolex. To have the dial, hands and day/date disc changed. And of course it had to have a mandatory service (which I didn’t mind) and it only took about 6 weeks.
I am very pleased with my decision and reading the time and date is easy.

Nice! Is that a silver or white dial? Tough to tell from the pic.
