DeepSea

Hey guys,
Just wanted to get your opinions on the chances of the DeepSea - James Cameron being discontinued anytime soon?

Rolex just released a new deepsea at Basel 2018 so I'd say the chances are pretty low.

Would discontinued models become less valuable or more valuable in your opinion? Not that I flip watches just wondering what everyone thinks.

Depends on demand. I don't think about it because I don't care. I buy what I like and never let Internet Hype influence my decisions. I did so in the past and it led to disappointment and regret.

Some do and some don't. In the very long run taking in account inflation most will be more valuable looking at the sticker price from 40 years ago .

I doubt it as it's been updated now as well as the regular DSSD

Doubt it. They just improved the bracelet a couple year ago. It's here for the next 5 years at least.

I purchased mine this summer as I didn’t want to chance it and certainly didn’t want to pay collectors prices if something did happen. My bet is it isn’t going anywhere as it’s a new reference. The watch is way over built for a problem we never needed solved. It’s a marvelous technical diver that needs to be viewed in that context.

I don't think the JC will be discontinued, but you never know with Rolex!

I would hope if they did discontinue it, they'd at least retain the dial for other watches. I would love to see the JC dial in other watches, like the sub or SD43. So mere mortal wrists could enjoy that absolutely incredible dial. Would be a sad day if it's no longer in the catalogue.

My absolute favourite Rolex dial, bar none.

I bought my 116660 about 3 months before it got discontinued and am so pleased with it. Also very happy with the short run. I hope the 126660 runs for another 9 years.

Love this pic Mystro! Really shows how thick that sapphire crystal is.

I'd say chances were low. The rumours were that the black 116660's weren't selling as Rolex had hoped so when they release the JC 116660 they did it to use up some of the cases of the black DSSD's and at that pointet started redesigning the lugs and bracelet for the 126660.
