Please identify watch.
All experts. The watch was passed down to me from my grandpa, I have no idea of the value nor the type of Rolex watch this is. The belt has obviously been replaced, not sure if the back was replaced.
The local shop did not identify the model but offered me $1,000 for it, trying to figure out if I am being underpaid. Thank you for your help! Uploaded the photos to this lnk below. https://imgur.com/a/AtL7vBS |

You need to post some pictures, so that members don't have to click links.
You can also look on the internet for watches like yours. You could also remove the "belt" to look for a reference number and a serial number, which are located between the lugs.

Appears to have moisture leakage corrosion.
Could internally be a real turkey. You should get it opened for inspection.

Here are the shots.
I would have the watch opened and appraised by a Rolex certified watchmaker to see what is inside. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

why would you want to sell your grandpa's watch?
It really won't get you much from any dealer out there. |

It looks to me like a Rolex Oyster Perpetual model 1005 but don't quote me on this.

Serious question though, would today’s RSCs service vintage models? If yes, maybe that’s where OP can send his watch to have a service quote. The quote would certainly include the model number. |

I'd say yes, but probably not at a regular RSC. The watch would likely be sent to a specialized department in Geneva where the cost of service would be at least double the normal cost for any recent models, and yes, they would also be able to identify the exact model of the watch.
