Icon20 Help tracking down a new 116610LN

First time poster on here, and this will be my first Rolex, albeit I own various other luxury watches.

Having a nightmare getting hold of a new Submariner Date for my 40th birthday, keep getting fobbed off by ADs in London with long waiting lists of 2 years, to the point that I've even tried other cities in the UK like Birmingham and Brighton but similar response, and even Vienna at the weekend!.

Does anyone here have any tips for getting one, such as best countries to fly to get one, or other reputable dealers who see new watches that aren't Rolex or Watches of Switzerland in the UK. Have cruised Chrono24 and Watchfinder but don't want to pay the resale markup.

Many thanks

Welcome to the forum:) If someone writes the answer of your question, the Sub you want will be sold immediately before you could go and pick it up :)

Its pointless to ring the ADs. The answer will be 'no'. Do your homework and fly around, introduce yourself and try to get one from wherever you can find sooner and cheaper. You will waste money on travelling, but it might save you waiting 2 years and paying higher MSRP. Choice is yours. I would not care I would just travel around and try my chance. Life is short, who can guarantee that I will live 2 more years ?

If you really want it, I say go grey, the money you will spent for trips plus time wasted calling AD will be the equivalent of $1500 usd markup charged by greys. But if you are willing to wait, then go AD.

For Subs, you won’t be able to get one unless you walk in and build a relationship with an AD. London especially difficult. If you want one soonish, worth getting one from WF or C24, or wait.

If you don't want to pay the markup on the second hand market, you can always try "paying the AD" instead, by buying a lot of other stuff from them. (I don't recommend that approach though, huge waste of time and money).

Welcome to TRF. As you do a little reading here, you'll get an accurate picture of the current market situation. You can also go to a gray dealer, just go with someone trustworthy. Happy Hunting.

How is flying around cheaper than the small premium on this model? You could be wearing that watch this weekend.

Most AD’s are black holes for stainless sports models. Gray is the only way to go these days until the market cools.
