2nd chance for a 114060 THIS WEEK!

Hey all! So...it’s been just under a week with my Submariner and I’m loving it...

I had an incoming post (thanks for the kind words!!). After 6 months of waiting and pop ins, I became impatient and tried a second AD in my city.
I was able to purchase my 114060 by walking in—no previous history or purchases! Super lucky. This was Wednesday.
I didn’t go to the first AD with sour grapes and a 2 fingered glove, as some on the forum suggested, tho I really wanted to. BUT! Today, this afternoon, the first AD calls and leaves message that she too, had a Sub available and asked if I still was interested.

I told her I had not but a few days back tried a competitor down the road and they won my business immediately! She sounded a little bummed out she couldn’t sell to me but I’m sure there are others who will be super happy to get the call.
I told her that I had acquired 3 watches in the last 6 months and am definitely a collector—keep me on your list if anything interesting comes up...

Just curious , am I silly to have passed on acquiring a second reference of the 114060? I know I could have flipped it or held onto it, unworn, as an investment. I didn’t think I’d have two opportunities to buy in one week...

I thought it was the right thing to pass—for the sake of the next guy, but I realize I missed out on what could be easy money.

Was this a good move to stay on favorable side of first AD to maybe get called in the future for something else?

Thanks for letting me throw this one out there...happy as a clam and feeling lucky

It’s not easy money, dude. All the large grey shops will lowball you, and a private individual will probably be hesitant to hand over the cash to a perfect stranger.

You did the right thing.

You could have potentially made a few hundred dollars, nothing crazy, when accounting for tax, shipping, etc. Enjoy the 114060 and I think it was the right call to pass up the second watch for someone else.

Good on you for passing. Don't overthink it. Someone else might have been waiting for it as well.

Yeah I don’t think it’s easy money either

Maybe with a Daytona or Blue Sky Dweller

You made the correct decision. Enjoy yours, let someone else enjoy their AD purchase. Well done!
