Some even guarantee a buy back at sold cost on up grades. Check your local AD's policy.

Many do but in my experience it is not a good option, particularly if you are looking to trade a current production model. The trade-in prices offered are often very low.....but as others have said your AD may have a special buy-back policy, although personally I have only ever seen such arrangements offered by pre-owned sellers. At the end of the day there is no harm in asking .

Mine did, traded a TT ladies diamond & Jubilee face for a Milgauss Z-Blue & a pre-owned midsize SS for my wife, plus cash.

Some AD's sell secondhand watches as well as new stock. They will take trades. AD's that don't sell used watches generally will not.

Yes, mine did. My wife had an older 26mm she never wore and told me on my next watch just take it in as a trade in. Worked out fine.

My AD used to take trades but not resell them. Not sure where they unloaded them. Offers very low. Lately, probably due to the low supply, they started reselling the trades. Offers are better now. They "clean up" the trades and price them high. Business...they offer $6k for a 16600 and price it for $9k.

Most do but my experience has been very bad. Gives lowballing a new name. You are always better selling your watch to a reliable used watch dealer who makes a market in the watches to get the best price. Many of the ADs are actually reselling their trade ins to used watch dealers and making a profit for doing so.

My AD does. They told me they will buy it at about 30% less than market value.

Best to equate Rolex with Car - and think about trading your old car in on a new car. You're never going to win, break even, or even feel like it was a fair deal when you compare the deal to selling your car (Rolex) privately.

Yes, even if they do not sell pre-owned watches in their shop. Other channels to unload them. ADs often have an interest in or familly members at grey dealers. As long as they make a few $$, they will do trade-ins

Ben Bridge and a few other big names do take in trades.
They send them to their Service Center in the Seattle area, then send them around in their Time-and-Time Again tours/sales campaign.

My AD does but they have to be at least 1 year old (same for Tudor apparently) for them to do a deal.

They're nuts if they don't. they buy at wholesale and sell at retail. Same as a new car dealer with a used car. Money to be made.

Some ADs don’t have an estate watch case to separate their pre-owned inventory so they don’t have a way to retail them. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

Yes, a Explorer 1016 ser #57xxxx. I was considering a new sports model, Explorer or Submariner. The AD's in my area all had the same story. I'm not getting on a wait list. So I sent it in for service. Now it looks/runs great. I'm in no rush. I'll check back now and then.

My AD is part of a larger group. Whilst the group have a policy on pricing a watch you wish to trade (usually a low ball figure), he helps his clients by marketing the watch through various dealers he is in contact with to get you thr best price, even though this is not his companies policy.
As an individual he helps out the customer in this regard even if it means he is going against his 'AD chains' policy. Can't say fairer than that. |

Ive traded 3 Rolex in with 2 ADs and it was more than just fair for me on the differece price, thats when they were discounting more easily on the retail side up until 2019. However I've never seen them selling any used on there displays. When I inquired with my main AD for a 16710 he came up with one that was also a trade in that they originally sold new 15 yrs. ago. I've also seen my AD Mgr. appraise walk ins trying to sell their Rolex. I'd say yes, they take trades and make out right purchases, it's there business and that sounds like it would be a perk for them.
