Problem with new Explorer II

I picked up my new Explorer II Polar dial last Wednesday from my usual AD and took it home. I proudly showed it to my wife who liked it a lot as it was a bit different in her eyes to my others. On close inspection I noticed a blemish on the polished case side at about 9 o’clock which I confirmed with my wife just to ensure I wasn’t seeing things. I informed my AD by email and today I took it into them for their comments. They agreed that there was indeed some marks and they are sending it back to Rolex in London for remedial work.
Two questions
1. Has anybody else had a similar problem ( I own several other Rolex watches and none have had the slightest problem)
2. What should I expect Rolex to do? I understand from the AD that they will have to strip the watch down and he didn’t know if they would re-polish the case or possibly replace it.

Really depends on what the blemish is - I'd imagine most things could be polished out within reason. I'd allow them the opportunity to remedy the situation. Not sure I'd allow a new case though-

I didn’t take a photo unfortunately but it’s a surface mark as opposed to a scratch so no depth to it. I’m hoping it will be back and in good order in a couple of weeks.

Seems like an easy fix - worth the wait and allowing them to remedy it - maybe they'll throw you some Rolex swag for the wait.

If it isn't a scratch, it'll buff out without changing any dimensions.

Been seeing a lot of similar posts lately regarding scratches and or damaged cases after leaving the AD. I strongly recommend to anyone picking up a new watch from any AD in the world to inspect it fully before leaving and address this at time of sale. Would hate to be the recipient of a new watch that needs to be sent off for a touch up or repair

I've never seen or had any problems with any of mine. Not sure what kind of blemish you have but any new Rolex problems can be fixed or replaced. I wouldn't worry now, hope it comes back soon and like new..Keep in touch..

Sounds like maybe a surface scuff as opposed to anything that really broke the surface. It's unfortunate but it will back looking new as it should.
