this argument can be used almost anything in the luxury category. Is this fine food X times better, wine, scotch, is the Merc X times better than the Toyota, my wallet, pen, blah blah...
Answer is no, but guess what people who can afford to go for the nicer item. |

I have 2 Seiko's - a turtle and the new alpinist - and love them both
I also have an OP 39 my OP 39 cost me 8 times the price of the alpinist and the value issue does come into it even at that cost multiple I can afford both but even allowing for the price differential thee OP 39 is worth the extra to me but I can totally understand the opposing view as even an OP is still a bloody expensive watch to anyone outside of this forum

If telling time effectively at a low cost is your primary objective, then a $5 digital watch or your cell phone is the way to go.
Rolex is an luxury item, "luxury" is never "worth the money".

I would say no. Most people could care less if a watch is +/- 10 to 20 seconds a day. A Rolex will last a lifetime and can be passed down but make no mistake you are paying for their advertising and their name. Seiko makes watches that equal Rolex. People equate Rolex with success while most people have never even heard of the Grand Seiko line.

Sadly, my Seiko 5 lasted about 12 months and never kept decent time.

one aspect of great brand is providing great value to the customer, and seiko certainly provides that.
