Hi everyone

Just need a little advice on my 1 year old watch

I rubbed the bottom right (5) lug with a silver polishing cloth to see if a scratch would come out (it didnt) and i am now really nervous that i have taken some of the metal off of my lug and scared it looks uneven.

I very much doubt a polishing cloth would remove mich and cant tell if this is my OCD! Its never been polished properly before as i am the first owner!

No way could a polishing cloth take off enough metal to be visible to the naked eye. As someone one said here, it's like painting a room and having it end up looking smaller.

Keep in mind that the lugs are little uneven to start with.

Get a stick if jewels rouge and put it in a chamois cloth and gently rub it to a mirror shune

While your lug is now technically “polished”, you would have had to hand polish with a polishing cloth for a long time, probably measured in hours to remove noticeable metal.

I believe on all the models that have crown guards by design. And likely some copy variation outside that.

Yes.
They're a fraction thinner on the crown side, to compensate for the winding crown. Apparently it adds symmetry.

Did not know that. I know that Daytona cases are asymmetrical or something like that, but I didn’t know other watches are the same.

You could not have removed any significant amount of metal. You just polished it. It can be taken back proper. Hang in there.

OCD has caused far more damage than if we had merely left the watch alone. I speak from experience.

Thanks guys - i mean the scratch didnt come out so not that much metal could have come off?

Its a 28mm datejust

Ive attached some photos but theyre really bad quality!!
