Another "AD told me" thread

An AD with whom I have no purchase history but am trying to build a relationship recently emailed me. Before that, I would occasionally stop in or send him an email asking if he may have anything that interests me. Always the response was that the ones I want are extremely hard to come by but keep being persistent.

In his recent email, he said that the state is requiring them to shut their doors because of the outbreak. He concluded the email by asking, as an afterthought, "by the way, what's on your wishlist." This is the first time he's so frankly asked me "what do you want."

I know many people have been posting similar threads (forgive me if this is too duplicative) and members are interested in learning about how the virus is impacting ADs and availability, so I thought I'd just share my experience with whoever's interested.

Now, if I were to soon post an incoming thread with a white dial daytona, blue skydweller, or BLRO, now *that* would be something Stay safe everyone

I didn't receive anything yet. He basically said times are rough, we're closing, and wanted to know what's on my list. I told him the pieces I mentioned above--he thanked me and said he'll take it from there. But I haven't heard anything since. It's been a couple days ago.

What I want most is an SS white dial daytona. I've been waiting for over two years with various ADs, some of with whom I have a purchase history and others with whom I don't. The AD with whom I had a best relationship and was the most promising opportunity is no longer a Rolex AD. I almost bought one grey a couple months ago but passed around 22k because I didn't want to trade my sub date and/or oyster BLNR. But if he offered me a skydweller or BLRO, I'd be extatic.

This is quite interesting to me particularly because I was trying to see if the AD near me (no purchase history) could get me the RG YM on OF to celebrate my college gradation. He was going to see if one came in before I put deposit down. Well 4 days later that closed due to virus and Rolex HQ closed. I plan on calling once they reopen as I am in no real rush, plus its a PM piece is not hard to get like SS. I wish you luck in getting what you want! Let us know what happens.

I know of an AD who has the RG YM on OF. Happy to pass along his details if you want it.

And if Rolex AD's could sell online it wouldn't matter if they shut the shop or would at least help mitigate in these circumstances.

The Rolex ADs I know sell multiple watches, so even if Rolex weren't allowing them to make online sales, they have many other brands to sell online. However, they're still struggling since it's easier to sell to in-store customers and in the current climate, not as many are keen on purchasing luxury goods.

Yeah, my guess is those models aren't happening. Literally the three hardest to get models out there, and we've seen zero evidence those have become more available. He was probably hoping for you to say a SS explorer, YM, or sub.

I can see the BLRO happening this year. I'm in a major market and was told any steel GMT could be done by summer time. Purchase history is a sub and sub date. Daytona required $100K history and Hulk required a previous solid PM purchase.
