My GMT II is an outstanding watch but at the end of the day it is just a watch. This is my second Rolex, first one was purchased when I was 25 back in 1990. It was a two tone black dialed Datejust but I had to sell it a few years later. I picked up my GMT II in 2011 and it is my everyday watch.

I know how you feel, OP. I feel the same way about my Sub. I deliberately wear it on important days occasions, instead of other pieces.

Another important object to me is a sharpening stone. It has been in my family for generations.

Most of my watches are just watches

There is only one I would not part with, it was a gift from my parents. It has meaning to me more than just a watch.

Everything else Is nice and nice to wear but I don’t have the attachment of that one.

A watch is something very personal that can become an extension of you, for better or worse. It can take on great sentimental value, can take on a story, be passed down to your kid or nephew or whomever. The right watch tells you where you've been, where you're at, and maybe where you're going.

This

Perfect explanation for why watches are different

I see I'm not the only one who thinks this way.

Beautifully put.
