Teach me about bezels please!
I've been looking at stainless DJs and I've got some questions about bezels:
Does the fluted bezel only come in WG? Why is that? it seems like with the other bezels, the material is the same as the rest of the watch--is that true? Also, is domed bezel the same as smooth? I'm thinking probably not. Are smooth bezels still available on new DJs? Here's an example of a watch that I came across with a smooth bezel: http://www.bernardwatch.com/Rolex/Da...d-Size/RLX3940 |

On the newer SS DJs, there are 2 options for bezels - fluted and smooth. The fluted is WG and the smooth is SS. And yes, smooth is the same as domed.
Older DJ models offer a third option called 'engine-turned'....looks a bit similar to fluted but SS. |

Fluted Bezels ONLY come in precious metals ie:WG,YG. Im not sure why Rolex does that
With any other bezel it is indeed the same metal as the rest of the watch (I think) and I believe smooth and domed are the same. |

Thanks for the answers!
Is there any advantage to having the fluted WG bezel? like is it more durable or anything? or is it just a matter of personal preference? |

It's more preference than anything else. For me, I chose the fluted bezel on my DJ because it goes so nicely with the jubilee bracelet....classic! Some prefer the smooth bezel with oyster.

It looks freaking awesome when it catches the light But when speaking of durability, the stainless steel would be better as it is harder than gold. But i wouldnt let that stop me from getting fluted. So basically yes it is a matter of personal preference
