Which Montblanc?
Hey All-
Thinking about getting my first Montblanc. I've seen a lot of recommendations about the Meisterstück, has anyone experienced the PIX? PIX Black Ballpoint Pen - https://www.montblanc.com/en-us/coll...point-pen.html Thanks! |

Hi, I have the Pix and although it is a very nice pen, it is rather basic. Have a look at the meisterstuck collection, they are more expensive but much better than the pix and ałso have a look at the starWalker collection. In my opinion these are worth saving for over the Pix. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |

I wouldn't go with a ball point; for MB I'd go with a fountain pen. I'm enjoying vintage MBs. They're great pens.

Agreed. Although if a fountain pen isn’t for you then I’d strongly recommend a MB roller ball. I have all 3 and RB gets most use. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Which Montblanc?
Sorry, I’ve just clicked on your link!!
I actually own that pen. (it was called something else when I bought it) If it’s going to be a ‘special’ pen or a one and only then I wouldn’t get it. Follow the advice above Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Rollerball or fineliner MB is the way to go. Less trouble than a true fountain but wrote so much better than a ballpoint.

The Meisterstuck has classic lines and the rounded cap with the Montblanc logo that they are known for. It also comes in rollerball, ballpoint, or fountain. The Meisterstuck and the PIX use the same refills, so write the same.

Funny, I just picked up the John Lennon in a rollerball and really like it; I was surprised. I like it much more than my Jonathan Swift ball point.

There is a time and place for a ballpoint. I use ballpoints at work because of 3 key reasons,
1. note taking is sporadic and it might be like 5 mins between things, the Rollerball or FP can go dry during that interval unless you keep recapping. 2. I sign docs and want permanent ink 3. office paper can rarely handle wet ink. Now in saying that Pix is very basic. I'd look at the midsize meisterstucks. EDIT one more reason, colleagues grab my pen and write every now and then... I do not want them touching my fountain pen... |

I have used FPs at work for years and cannot remember a time when they did not fit the need.
We no longer use carbon copies as we did decades ago, so that was not an issue for me. If I needed a pen that needed to be used in a way that would force a copy, I could always borrow one close by. Just saying that fountain pens are well worth their cost and give back over and over in a work environment. At least for me as a Microsoft / Cisco engineer. Lots of note taking and general writing. They make any job that involves an abundance of writing much more enjoyable.
