Noob question- Service dial ID

My wife just surprised me with my first Rolex, a 168000, and I was curious about the dial. I know it has a service dial and hands with the new luminova from a RSC overhaul, but was wondering if anyone knew anything else about it. She bought it from a reputable seller, and I’m not at all suggesting it’s not an original Rolex part like they listed, I was just hoping to learn more so I have a better understanding of the history of my new watch (which I love, by the way).

Thanks for any insight you might be able to provide!

Congratulations! You've got a great wife by the sound of it! A definite keeper.

Looks beautiful and perfect to me? Did the service work come with the watch purchase?

It has the RSC warranty paper and an AD service tag, but not an itemized receipt

What specific information are you trying to find out about the new service dial? Are you trying to figure out if the dial that they put on is correct for the watch? There is no "history" in my opinion because it's a new replaced dial. It could have been replaced because the watch had some sort of water damage or could have been because the person wanted new lume dots/markers. A better way to find out information on your watch is with the serial number, it should provide you with the year of purchase and manufacturer date. Also insight into where it was originally sold/purchased whether domestic or international. This is the better story I believe, not the dial.

Look like a perfectly good standard (non maxidial) 5 digit Sub service dial.

Thanks for this.

I know it’s not the “correct” dial, as the original would have had tritium. I guess I don’t know exactly what my question was... I suppose I was wondering what the dial..style/kind/reference (??) would be? Ive seen so many different variations, and noticed this one had the “short f” and spacing around the “=“ and I didn’t know if there was a name for it.

I’ll see what I can find based on SN. Thanks for that suggestion.

Are you looking to possibly purchase the correct time period specific dial on eBay or elsewhere?

Yes, it is a "correct" dial, it just is not original.

Your dial looks just like the original dial would have except that it is Luminova rather than tritium. There is no MKxx or any of those other made-up identifiers for a service dial because it may vary somewhat, depending on when it was installed.

It is a standard, gold surround, Luminova, service dial.

Changing it back to a used tritium dial at some point is not a cost effective strategy.

This is a great clarification. Thank you!
