Daytona musings
I recently had to send in my daily driver for a warranty service and during that time I rotated watches that I didn't wear often before.
Included in this list was a 116500 and a 114060. Out of these two I realised that the sub is the ultimate beautiful watch that I actually prefer. Dont get me wrong, the Daytona is mighty pretty and pops, but there is just something about that maxi case that makes the sub so damn handsome. Maybe that's what it's about, pretty vs handsome. I prefer the latter Anyway, I'm sorely tempted to trade the Daytona for a sub or two for my boys, maybe go PM if only there was a no date PM version. I always said the Daytona was for my daughter one day. Oh well, musing over. Sent from my Pixel 3 XL using Tapatalk

I personally prefer to keep what I already have and would sit on it a while longer before acting on that decision. You could just add the Submariners for your boys over time.

I can see that.... they are at almost opposite ends of the wearing spectrum too

I know what you mean. I’ve got a 114060 and just recently got a 116503 black dial from my AD. It’s nice to have the contrast of styles given they’re theoretically both 40 cases. Sub has that utilitarian feel versus Daytona does have a more dressy vibe. I’m keen to see how the Daytona fits in over the longer term

Please keep the Daytona. I daily my 114060 and today wore my 116500 and fell in love with it all over again.
There’s always a place for a Daytona in every collection |
