Is this Oysterquartz Day-Date Dial Genuine?

Hi All

I was at an antique market today and picked this dial up for £5 basically as a gamble. Its in a bad way but wondered if it was a fake or genuine? Hope some of you can help.

The narrow date window and narrow day window indicate this is from a replica watch. A lot of other details are different from a genuine one as well, so I'm saying replica/aftermarket/fake.

Who's to say the dial hasn't been out of its case for many years. Could've been in a box or a drawer that had water damage, some kind of pollutant, or who knows what else.

Kingface, are you saying there is a chance this could be a genuine Rolex dial but has been damaged because of storage damage?

If so, please supply photographs of genuine dials where the day and date apertures are so narrow, there are no locating pegs on the back, the indices are stamped and the Rolex crown is glued on.

That's before we get to the details of the inaccurate fonts, mismatched text, off-center indices, etc., etc.

This is not a real Rolex dial, but it is a poor quality fake, probably from a knock off watch.

Thanks for everyones input so far. The dial was just thrown on a stall amongst other bits of jewellery. I have no idea if its right or wrong but the seller was certainly not trying to deceive only charging £5. Its never going to be a valuable piece even if genuine but i’m more interested in if it is real and its age out of curiosity

Where did I say it was real?? No where did I claim it was a real dial. And I’m NOT claiming it’s real. All I said was that a dial...even a fake one...that’s NOT protected by outside elements from the security of it being in a case and crystal, can deteriorate.

Maybe it would be better if you explained what your thinking was. As it was written, there was a lot of ambiguity and it is not surprising that anybody, me included, would be confused. All I asked for was clarification of a confusing post.

Bad attitude? I'm sorry if it came across that way. Just wanted to clarify that that I was not implying the dial was real.Just explaining that any dial can deteriorate...and yes, even fake ones.

As for "NY attitude" and "Rolex superior attitude", I honestly don't know what those are. I've never been accused of having either here on this forum. Sorry if I've offended you.

You don't offend. Putting "Sheesh" in a post full of bad attitude offends me. You are a timely reminder of why I chose to leave the East Coast about 20 years ago. It's really nice not having to deal with that everyday.

The dial is fake, no doubt about it.

Rolex does not stamp hour indices into the dial and does not glue the coronet to the dial face among many other things that are wrong.

At £5, you overpaid OP.

Well, let's not exaggerate and negatively brand an entire region of the United States.

As an objective bystander, seems as if this little disagreement escalated unnecessarily. An apology was offered and that should have been the end of it, IMHO.

Anyway, I think it's been pretty much established the dial is aftermarket.
