ROOT BEER DAYTONA - Would You Buy It?
First of all, this is a hypothetical question with a poll. If you have no interest in the topic, feel free to select "Don't Care" in the poll.
For those of you who ARE interested, here we go... If Rolex were to announce a new Root Beer Cosmograph Daytona configured as follows: - Oyster case - Black Cerachrom bezel - Two-tone Oyster/Everose gold bracelet (similar to GMT) - Dial color options: (a) Black and pink (b) Chocolate, black (c) Pink and black List price = $20,700 Would you consider buying one? Would such a model excite you? Would you consider it a fair price? Should Rolex offer it? Please share your thoughts AND include the dial color option you would choose. |

I think TT Daytona Cs are long overdue. Rolex should still imo keep some polished bezel options in TT and PM, but why not offer both options.

I think a TT with ceramic bezel would look weird. Too many colors going on between SS case, gold, dial color etc. A big part of a TT Daytona is the PM bezel and it breaks up the colors nicely.
I think I would like a TT RG Daytona with PM bezel - model 116501. |

I'm not skilled in Photoshop... but imagine this with a standard Oyster case.

Even though Rolex pricing isn't based on price of metals, at $20.7K I'd be hard pressed to pay a ~$3K premium and get a ceramic bezel instead of gold.
I do love the idea though and have thought about it myself. |

It would be RG vs. YG... but appreciate your analysis.

I passed on a SS Daytona, so this would also be a pass for me.
Nice looking in TT though, I’ll give you that. |

Chocolate and black sounds pretty amazing but no way I would buy it at that price. It would have to be closer to $15K than $20K for me to be interested.

ROOT BEER DAYTONA - Would You Buy It?
The only colors from the CHNR I’d like to see echoed in a SS/RG/TT Daytona is the actual ceramic bezel...get rid of the useless tachymeter bezel.
Now I know ur scratching ur noggin at this point...so here’s the rest... I’d want a 24hr hand too. Most racers are juggling TZ’s throughout the season. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

My view - ask the AD to take it out into the sun (natural light), look at it and get back to us.
Natural light makes this piece incredible- without looking like a full PM piece. Not gonna say anything else - it is up to you to see what can happen. Just my .02 Steve Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I’d pass. Just my opinion: I like full RG but not TT RG/SS. I personally think YG goes better with TT.

Love my GMT TT (Rootbeer)
I think the smart move is for Rolex to make Rollessor versions of their hot SS watches in SS + White Gold. They could increase the price and there would instantly be waiting lists. The people love white metals. Give them what they want, move the brand further upmarket, and maybe take a little bit of the profit away from the grey market. |
